Company X, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has just filed a lawsuit against eight Vietnamese citizens for allegedly exploiting a serious loophole in its creator revenue-sharing program.

This is an initiative promoted by the world's richest man himself to help users earn money through their activities on the platform.

According to the lawsuit, this group of people, identified as living in Hanoi , includes Le Dinh Chung, Nguyen Nhu Duc, Do Viet Khanh, Nguyen Viet Kieu, Do Xuan Long, Do Minh Thang, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh and Phan Ngoc Tuan.

They are accused of creating scores of fake accounts, using software to distribute computer-generated content and setting up accounts using stolen identities.

The purpose of this behavior is to create a "fake popularity effect" through interactions between accounts, in order to bypass platform X's moderation system and profit from the revenue sharing program.

While the lawsuit does not specify exactly how much money the group took, evidence from the payments shows that the money was transferred to at least 125 US bank accounts under false names.

They were then forwarded to real records at nine banks in Vietnam, with more than 1,700 individual transactions.

"They used software to create virtual interactions within a network of accounts. This is similar to how a broker in the financial industry can 'spin' profits by engaging in excessive and unnecessary transactions in a client's investment account, in order to generate additional commissions," X stressed in the lawsuit.

In addition to profiting from fake interactions, the complaint also says the group also made money by selling tools and automation techniques used to cheat on X.

The lawsuit also alleges that the individuals committed trademark infringement by “misusing and misappropriating” the Twitter and X trademarks by inserting the logo into the avatars for instructional videos posted on YouTube.

Billionaire Elon Musk previously announced that he would ban "fake interactions" on X. However, experts say that the current pay-for-click mechanism may inadvertently encourage similar fraudulent behaviors to continue.
