The Prime Minister has just issued a decision regulating the structure of retail electricity prices. The decision takes effect from May 29 and is applied from the date of adjustment of the average retail electricity price most recently after the effective date of this decision.
A notable content is that the retail price of household electricity has been adjusted down from 6 levels to 5 levels. Accordingly, the electricity price of levels 1-5 is calculated at 90-180% of the current average retail price of electricity (2,204.06 VND/kWh, excluding VAT). Thus, the lowest price is about 1,984 VND/kWh and the highest is 3,967 VND/kWh, excluding VAT.
Specifically, the first-level electricity price (0-100kWh) will be applied at 90% of the average retail electricity price, equivalent to 1,984 VND/kWh, unchanged from the current 6-level electricity price.
The electricity price for level 2 (101-200kWh) is calculated at 108% of the average retail electricity price, equivalent to 2,380 VND/kWh, an increase of 330 VND/kWh compared to the current level 2 electricity price, 6-step scale.

The electricity price for level 3 (201-400kWh) is calculated at 136% of the average retail electricity price, equivalent to 2,998 VND/kWh, an increase of 618 VND/kWh compared to the electricity price for level 3, the current 6-level electricity price scale.
The electricity price of level 4 (401-700kWh) is calculated at 162% of the average retail electricity price, equivalent to 3,571 VND/kWh, an increase of 573 VND/kWh compared to the electricity price of level 4, the current 6-level electricity price scale.
The electricity price for level 5 (701kWh or more) is calculated at 180% of the average retail electricity price, equivalent to 3,967 VND/kWh, an increase of 617 VND/kWh compared to the electricity price for level 5, the current 6-level electricity price scale.
Currently, the current electricity price is still applied in 6 levels, the average retail electricity price according to the adjustment from May 10, is currently at 2,204.06 VND/kWh (excluding VAT). Poor households still follow the criteria of relevant legal regulations in each period to be supported with electricity for living purposes, the monthly support level is equivalent to the electricity cost of using 30kWh calculated according to the current retail price of household electricity at level 1.
