Coach Hoang Anh Tuan finalizes Vietnam Olympic team captain at ASIAD 19

The members of the Vietnam Olympic Committee were announced one day before the tournament. The captain's armband was given to goalkeeper Do Sy Huy. The team members elected four vice-captains, including striker Nham Manh Dung, midfielder Khuat Van Khang, defender Phan Tuan Tai and goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan.

Thus, the staff of the Vietnam Olympic team is spread across all 4 lines, except for the goalkeepers, who have 2 members. With the selection as captain, it is likely that goalkeeper Do Sy Huy will be the main goalkeeper for the Vietnam Olympic team in this year's tournament. Goalkeeper Cao Van Binh is still inexperienced and is not the optimal choice. Quan Van Chuan played very successfully in the 2022 U23 Asian Cup finals as well as some youth tournaments, but he did not have the opportunity to play in the V-League for Hanoi FC. Van Chuan's form has declined significantly and he also does not show confidence in the 2023 U23 Southeast Asian tournament.

Do Sy Huy is currently playing for the Hanoi Police Club. He played 2 matches in V-League 2023 and had a good performance. Of course, this goalkeeper will have difficulty competing with his two Vietnamese colleagues, Patrik Le Giang and Filip Nguyen. Not to mention, Bui Tien Dung is also an option in the early stages of the Hanoi Police Club season.

The players chosen as vice-captains such as Nham Manh Dung, Phan Tuan Tai, Van Chuan and Van Khang all have experience in competition and are among the pillars of the Vietnam Olympic team.

Vietnam Olympic team is in group B with Saudi Arabia, Mongolia and Iran, West Asian representatives from the continent's leading football teams.

The football competition at the 19th ASIAD will take place from September 19. There are 23 participating teams, divided into 6 groups. The 4 first and second place teams in each group and the 4 third-place teams with the best results will qualify for the knockout round.
