This morning (April 8), U23 Vietnam left for Qatar to participate in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. During the training period before the tournament, the team will have a friendly match with U23 Jordan on April 10.
Regarding the U23 Vietnam squad, the team will go to Qatar with 27 players, in which coach Hoang Anh Tuan will not have the service of Phan Tuan Tai. The reason this defender was eliminated was because of a relapse of his knee injury and could not recover in time.
Phan Tuan Tai is a player that Coach Troussier used to rely on when he was working with Vietnamese football. Tuan Tai's absence from the 2024 AFC U23 Championship is a pity for U23 Vietnam because Minh Trong was also absent due to injury.
According to the schedule of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam will play its opening match against U23 Kuwait on April 17. In the next two matches, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Malaysia on April 20 and U23 Uzbekistan on April 23.
