The production value in May 2025 was 247.54 billion VND, reaching 8.69% of the plan, bringing the agricultural production value from the beginning of the year to 1,315.22 billion VND, reaching 46.2% of the plan, up 0.33% over the same period in 2024. In general, agricultural production in the district continued to develop. The rice growing sector is stable, currently the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop is being harvested, achieving high productivity. The livestock sector remains stable. The price of raw pangasius is good, fish farmers have quite high profits. Specifically, the whole district has a total aquaculture area of 317.69 hectares, reaching 77.49% of the plan. Of which, the area for raising pangasius meat is 292.25 hectares, 4.75 hectares higher than the same period in 2024; the area for raising pangasius fry is 15.1 hectares, 3.11 hectares higher than the same period in 2024, the area for raising catfish is 7.05 hectares and the area for raising other fish is 3.29 hectares. The number of fish rafts is 243.
Currently, the total output of farmed aquatic products harvested in the district is 36,444 tons, reaching 35.73% of the plan, an increase of 4,310 tons compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, the output of pangasius is 35,743 tons, an increase of 3,643 tons compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 36.47% of the plan. Catfish output is 73 tons, raft fish output is 531 tons, other fish output is 97 tons... Thot Not district also has a pangasius farming area of 1 company, with an area of 10.55 hectares; 31.29 hectares of 17 facilities are processed (processing rate is 7,000 VND/kg). Most pangasius farming households only sign purchase and sale contracts with processing enterprises when the fish reach commercial size, so the price depends on the consumption market at each harvest time. Currently, the cost of raising pangasius is from 24,000-25,000 VND/kg. The price of commercial pangasius fluctuates from 31,000-32,000 VND/kg, 5,000 VND/kg higher than the same period in 2024, farmers have a profit of about 7,000 VND/kg.
According to the Department of Agriculture of Thot Not district, the locality currently has an aquaculture area certified for food safety and hygiene with a total area of 161.28 hectares/74 pangasius farming facilities, such as: farming according to VietGAP standards with 51.4 hectares/25 facilities, ATTP/ASC area of 10.55 hectares/1 facility; ATTP area of 99.33 hectares/48 facilities. In addition, the district has 6 seed production facilities, including 1 pangasius and catfish production facility, 1 eel breeding facility, 3 pangasius breeding facilities and 1 snakehead fish breeding facility. The district's functional sector has also strengthened the management and support of aquaculture development. Thereby, environmental monitoring samples have been collected according to plan (4 times/month at 2 ponds and 2 points on the river); monitoring the 2024 fish extension model, the fish are growing well; Assess, evaluate and classify food safety conditions of aquaculture facilities at 2 facilities in 2 farming areas; assess and grant food safety registration certificates for 1 facility; organize the signing of commitments and periodically assess food safety conditions for 30 small and retail aquaculture facilities in accordance with regulations...
In addition, farmers in Thot Not district also planted 3,588 hectares of summer-autumn rice in 2025, reaching 101.73% of the plan. Currently, the rice is growing well and yielding quite high yields. In the summer-autumn rice crop of 2025, the district continues to maintain and expand 8 large fields in 7 wards, with a total area of 978.1 hectares. There are 1,090 households participating in focusing on producing high-quality rice and producing rice seeds. Currently, the rice is in the ripening and harvesting stage... The district's Department of Agriculture has stepped up its efforts to mobilize farmers to renovate mixed gardens and plant new crops of economic value, such as longan, plum, durian, custard apple, and mango, with a total area of 2,670.53 hectares to date, reaching 100% of the plan. Every month, the locality harvests fruit with an estimated output of 3,286 tons, contributing to increasing profits for farmers.
In the coming time, wards in Thot Not district will continue to support and guide farmers on production techniques in cultivation, livestock and aquaculture in the direction of ensuring food safety and hygiene and efficiency, associated with the dissemination of legal documents related to agricultural production for establishments producing and trading in seeds and agricultural materials of all kinds, minimizing fraud and production and trading of goods that do not ensure quality. Coordinate with relevant sectors to strengthen the inspection of stores selling fertilizers and pesticides in the area, in order to minimize the situation of hoarding goods waiting for prices and causing price fluctuations that cause damage to farmers. Support cooperatives to participate in training courses and seminars to link product consumption. Continue to implement measures to prevent and control epidemics for livestock and poultry; perform well the quarantine work at aquatic seed production establishments; apply measures to prevent and control epidemics on livestock, poultry and aquatic products; Monitor the development of aquaculture in the area and collect environmental samples for aquaculture areas and water sources on the Hau River; monitor aquaculture extension models in 2024 and guide registration documents for aquaculture in cages, rafts and key aquaculture species such as pangasius; monitor the progress of irrigation works and infrastructure to serve the development of high-quality agriculture in the wards in the coming time...
