"Miss" Le Nam Pung

The largest and most beautifully shaped pears will be selected as the "Pear Queen".

The "Miss Pear" contest in Nam Pung commune, Bat Xat district, featured the largest and most beautiful pears from five orchards in Nam Pung commune, carefully selected for the competition. The contest aimed to find the most beautiful pears from the orchards. The orchard with the heaviest and most beautiful pears would be crowned "Miss Pear" this year. Winning the "Miss Pear" title required a long and diligent effort from the growers. Ms. May Sieu, the owner of the winning orchard in Nam Pung commune, Bat Xat district, shared: "I fertilize properly, prune the branches evenly, and provide sufficient water. My orchard not only has irrigation channels above the canopy but also along the pathways. Next year, I will focus on caring for the pear trees and fertilizing them appropriately so that the fruit will be even more beautiful than this year."

Currently, Nam Pung commune has approximately 170 hectares of Tai Nung pears (VH6). To improve quality and promote the product, organizing a pear festival, including a "Pear Beauty Queen" contest, is one of the measures to encourage farmers to expand their planting area and improve product quality. Mr. Ly Viet Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Pung commune, Bat Xat district, said: "The 'Pear Beauty Queen' contest shows people that leaving fewer pears but ensuring better quality is crucial. This avoids the current situation where farmers leave too many pears, resulting in poor quality and low prices. Through the 'Pear Beauty Queen' contest, farmers will learn about this issue, improve their care, and contribute to poverty reduction and building a more stable life for ethnic minority communities."

The "Miss Pear" contest is one of the measures to encourage farmers to expand their growing areas and improve product quality.

The "Miss" Pear Contest and Tai Nung Pear Harvesting Experience (VH6) in Nam Pung commune not only introduces Tai Nung pears to tourists but also creates a playground for visitors to participate in agricultural activities, creating unique tourism products and developing sustainable tourism. At the same time, it encourages local farmers to continuously learn and apply scientific and technological advancements to production, ensuring bountiful harvests season after season.
