(NADS) - In April 2019, the Association of Soldiers of the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri in 1972, Lam Dong province was officially established with 280 members, operating in 13 branches in the province. After 5 years of operation, the Association has truly become a common "home" for former soldiers to meet, exchange, recall memories of the battlefield, promote the tradition of helping each other in life, and preserve the spirit of comradeship.
The 81-day and night battle to defend Quang Tri Citadel in 1972 has become an unforgettable memory in the minds of the soldiers who participated in this historic battle. After going through fierce battles, they returned with heroic memories and war wounds. After the war, the soldiers of the past continued to unite, establishing the Quang Tri Citadel Soldiers Association in 1972, Lam Dong province, together preserving the intact comradeship and continuing to promote the heroic and resilient tradition to contribute to building the homeland.
Comrade Le Trung Tinh - Chairman of the Quang Tri CSTC Association in 1972, Lam Dong province said: "One of the tasks that the Association is interested in is activities to return to the source and show solidarity with comrades. Every year, on the occasion of the War Invalids Day on July 27, the Association organizes many delegations to visit the old battlefields, offer incense to the souls of martyrs at cemeteries, and perform "Singing for comrades" in Quang Tri town and the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Highway 9. The Association mobilizes members to voluntarily go directly to the locations to search for and provide information about comrades who sacrificed their lives on the Quang Tri battlefield in 1972.
In addition, the Association also coordinates with schools to organize traditional talks, contributingto educating the younger generation about patriotism and national pride. Thereby, helping students fully understand the value of independence, freedom and continuing the heroic tradition of their ancestors. The 1972 CSTCQT Association, Lam Dong province not only fosters comradeship but also serves as a solid support for war veterans facing difficulties in life. In addition to gratitude and connection activities, the Association also actively mobilizes resources to support members in difficult circumstances to rise up in life.
In the past 5 years (2019-2024), the Association has carried out many practical activities, showing deep concern for its members. Visiting and encouraging members and their relatives when they are sick, ill, or have passed away. In particular, the Association always pays attention to supporting members with especially difficult housing circumstances. With the spirit of mutual love, mutual affection, and comradeship, in the past 5 years, the Association of Lam Dong Ancient Citadel Soldiers has supported the construction of 10 new "Warm Comradeship" houses with a total amount of 550 million VND, repaired 15 dilapidated houses, donated 10 televisions, 7 sets of tables and chairs, and supported 17 members in difficult circumstances with a total amount of over 1 billion VND.
At the 2nd Congress (term 2024-2029), the 1972 Lam Dong Provincial CSTCQT Association set the goal of continuing to develop strongly, affirming its position as a warm "home" of camaraderie for its members. The Association focuses on a number of key tasks such as: Proactively developing new members, improving the capacity and quality of activities of all levels of the Association, organizing practical and meaningful activities suitable to the needs of members. At the same time, the Association also strengthens coordination with Associations and organizations inside and outside the province as well as social resources to effectively implement local political tasks, while doing a good job of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members./.
