Hanoi Red Cross Society focuses on effectively implementing Humanitarian Month

On April 10, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son worked with the City Red Cross Society on the work of the Society and the Capital Red Cross movement.

At the working session, reporting on the results of the Association's work and the Red Cross movement in the first quarter of 2025, Chairman of the Hanoi Red Cross Association Le Tu Luc said that in the first quarter of 2025, the Associations at all levels in the city proactively and actively mobilized resources to implement the "Humanitarian Tet" movement, presenting 136,774 gifts, reaching 256% of the target assigned by the Central Government, with a total value of more than 107.5 billion VND.

The whole city has organized 72 "Tet Charity" programs following the model of "Fair - Gift Giving - Happy Tet" at different scales. The relief and prevention work for natural disasters and natural disasters in the first quarter of 2025, the whole city has supported 149,697 cases, worth over 115.2 billion VND. In addition, agencies, units, districts, towns and cities have effectively organized the voluntary blood donation plan during Tet and the Spring Festival. As a result, the whole city has received 72,910 units of blood worth over 11.6 billion VND, reaching 23% of the plan...

Speaking at the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health proposed to transfer the Hanoi Private Secondary School for Deaf and Mute Children to Xa Dan Secondary School (Dong Da District) to ensure learning and development conditions for disabled students. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Department of Home Affairs proposed that the leaders of the City People's Committee direct the Red Cross to review finances and human resources to prevent loss and waste of public assets...

Concluding the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son acknowledged the results of the Red Cross Society in recent times; especially in implementing the "Humanitarian Tet" movement, donating blood, supporting victims, etc.

Comrade Le Hong Son also requested the City Red Cross Society to promptly overcome the limitations and difficulties of the Society in management, organizational model, organizational structure, and financial work.

Regarding the Hanoi Private Secondary School for Deaf and Mute Children, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Le Hong Son, assigned the Department of Education and Training to develop a suitable action plan in the direction of expanding the scale, increasing students, teachers, etc. The Red Cross must review all facilities as well as outstanding issues, promptly report to the city for resolution. At the same time, there must be close coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Health and related units in communication work to raise awareness, focusing on educating life skills and soft skills in schools.

On this occasion, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son requested the city's Red Cross Society to focus resources and effectively implement the Humanitarian Month. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen communication to raise social awareness, effectively perform the tasks of the Red Cross Society in participating in emergency relief and humanitarian assistance; mobilize humanitarian blood donation, propagate humanitarian values, etc. In particular, it is necessary to promote digital transformation, especially in humanitarian communication. Along with that, it is necessary to continue promoting socialization, effectively mobilizing resources, investing sustainably in social security, contributing to stabilizing the community, and improving the capacity to respond to emergency situations. The city will create conditions for the Society to be able to implement large-scale, long-term humanitarian programs such as relief projects, humanitarian blood donation, community health care, etc., effectively supporting the disadvantaged.

Before the meeting, comrade Le Hong Son visited the Hanoi Private Secondary School for Deaf and Mute Children (Nhan Chinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District) - a school established in 1990, teaching disabled children including hearing impaired, deaf children who are no longer able to speak, autistic children, children with mental retardation, disabled children...

Here, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son presented 30 million VND to support teachers and students of the school.
