The kite flying festival in Ba Duong Noi is a long-standing cultural beauty, associated with the Kite Temple relic - a place to worship the God of the Delta, the god who protects crops and a peaceful life for agricultural residents in the riverside area.
The festival lasts for three days from the 14th to the 16th of the third lunar month every year, with the main festival day falling on the 15th of the third lunar month, marking the beginning of the new crop season in the ancient agricultural calendar.
Traditional ceremonies such as the ceremony of conferring the robes, changing the costumes, declaring the royal decree, offering the main ceremony, presenting the kite, praying for the investiture and kite flying... are all solemnly held and imbued with the belief of praying for favorable weather.
In particular, the kite that wins first prize in the contest will be brought to the temple to be offered to the Gods, as a symbol of respect and connection between humans and nature.
According to Ms. Dao Thi Hong - Vice Chairman of Dan Phuong District People's Committee, receiving the heritage title this time is not only a source of pride for the local people but also an opportunity to express gratitude to the cultural traditions of their ancestors, while affirming the typical and unique value of the Ba Duong Noi village kite festival in the national cultural treasure. This is also an opportunity to promote more widely the relic of Dieu temple and the craft of making flute kites - a unique symbol of folk art.
