Nghe An Province Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs celebrates 11th anniversary of establishment

Over the past 11 years, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs in Nghe An province has made efforts to provide information in the search for martyrs' remains and actively help martyrs' families in difficult circumstances.

On the afternoon of June 18, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs of Nghe An province held a ceremony to celebrate its 11th anniversary (2014 - 2025).

Attending the ceremony were: Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung - Chairman of the Association for Supporting Families of Vietnamese Martyrs; Tran Thi Thu Huong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, representatives of a number of departments, branches and sponsoring units.

The war has long since ended, but the consequences for the families of martyrs in Nghe An province are still lingering and severe. Of the approximately 45,000 martyrs, there are still 23,370 martyrs whose identities have not been determined or who do not have enough information. There are 24,000 graves, of which 9,000 are nameless...

Overcoming difficulties and challenges, with affection and responsibility towards martyrs and their families, in 11 years of operation, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs of Nghe An province has gradually grown and operated effectively, especially in the work of mobilizing and developing members and organizing the association. From a few dozen members at the time of its establishment, the Association now has 415 members, many of whom are children of martyrs and relatives of martyrs' families.

Determining the principles and purposes, right from the beginning of its establishment, to collect information and accurately search for martyrs' remains, the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs has regularly connected with a number of units, localities and Associations for Supporting Families of Martyrs of some localities. As a result, in the past 11 years, the association has collected more than 12,000 pieces of information and addresses of martyrs from Nghe An who died on the battlefields.

In addition, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs in Nghe An province has mobilized over 51 billion VND, from which the mobilized funds have supported the construction of 602 new houses (each house costs 50 - 80 million VND) with a cost of over 30 billion VND; donated 486 savings books worth 3.9 billion VND; donated nearly 19,000 gifts worth nearly 11 billion VND; upgraded 7 cemeteries worth 2.7 billion VND, donated 90 wheelchairs and 150 bicycles with a cost of 300 million VND and many other activities...

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Hoang Khanh Hung acknowledged and praised the results of the Association's activities over the past 11 years; at the same time, he emphasized that in the coming time, the Association needs to actively coordinate with relevant agencies to widely propagate to all classes of people, raise awareness of gratitude to martyrs and the nation's morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water; collect, process and provide information to search for martyrs' remains through organizations, individuals, and on mass media; advise on identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information by DNA testing...

On this occasion, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs of Nghe An Province; the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs presented a gold plaque of honor to 12 outstanding individuals in the Association's work.
