On the evening of July 25, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ninh Binh province and Bai Dinh pagoda organized a flower lantern ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with the theme "Gratitude lanterns - 80 seasons of independence".
The lantern night had more than 2,500 participants. In addition to monks, nuns, and Buddhists, there were also about 1,000 trainees (people participating in Buddhist study courses), volunteers participating in the experience course "Gratitude Youth - Returning to the Source of Light" from 19 provinces and cities across the country who joined the ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity, to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, those who sacrificed their blood and youth for the cause of fighting, national liberation, and national reunification.
The program featured many unique cultural activities with the theme "When drinking water, remember its source" to remember the merits of heroes, martyrs, and previous generations who sacrificed for the country.
Participating in the program, monks, nuns, and Buddhists wore robes and blue clothes, while trainees and volunteers wore red shirts with a red flag with a yellow star printed on the front of the chest.
At the end of the program, monks, nuns, Buddhists, students and volunteers performed the ritual of circumambulating and praying around the map of Vietnam made from flower lanterns.
According to the representative of the organizing committee, each flower lantern lit is a light of wishes, erasing all suffering to build a beautiful and prosperous country together. A prayer for peace , people's happiness, gratitude and remembrance of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for national independence.
A student participating in the lantern festival said: “I am very proud to attend the sacred lantern festival, to show gratitude and wholeheartedly commemorate the heroic martyrs, and pray for national peace and prosperity. The lantern festival is a moment for each of us young people to stop, listen to ourselves and send our best wishes to everyone.”
