More than 3,500 candidates compete for admission to grade 10 at Gifted High School

The Gifted High School continues to record a high "competition" rate in the 2025-2026 school year, with more than 3,500 applications for about 600 10th grade positions. The average competition rate is 1/6, meaning that for every 6 candidates, only one will be admitted.

Before 6 o'clock, parents and children were present at the exam site, not forgetting to give their children instructions before the important exam.

Excitedly checking out the exam room, students are ready to enter the 10th grade entrance exam at the Gifted High School. Although the number of applications has decreased slightly by nearly 9% compared to last year, the level of competition has not "cooled down", reflecting the attraction and prestige of the school within the Ho Chi Minh City National University system.

Candidates taking the entrance exam will take 4 exams: 3 non-major subjects including Math, Literature, English and 1 or 2 elective major subjects. The structure and content of the exam are kept stable by the school, similar to previous years to ensure continuity and fairness for candidates.

Before entering the exam room, many students still took advantage of every minute to review their knowledge. Security at the exam site was tightened, and parents were not allowed to bring their children into the school grounds.

Ms. Huynh Thi Anh Mai (Tan Phu) worriedly watched her nephew during the exam. Nguyen Khoi, a student at Nguyen Du Secondary School ( Quang Nam ), went to Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday evening to take the exam.

Parents' eyes followed their children to the school gate, then lingered for a long time. Inside the campus, collaborators - students of the school, enthusiastically guided candidates to the right exam room.

Ly Hai My, Chu Van An Secondary School ( Binh Duong ), shared: "I'm quite worried but I tell myself everything will be fine. I believe my friends and I will do well on the exam."

Ms. Ha Thi Phuong Huynh from Long An and her son took her daughter to the exam. She shared that before the exam, her daughter was quite stressed and worried that she would not do well. However, she and her family were always there to encourage and comfort her to help her overcome the pressure.

Unlike the public 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities, the Gifted High School organizes its own entrance exam, not at the same time, allowing students from other provinces to participate. The school is known as a place that gathers many talented and excellent students from the southern provinces.

The exam will last for three days, ending on May 26.
