The entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School for the 2025-2026 school year had 4,851 candidates participating. With a target of 350, the "competition" rate to enter the school is 1/13.8 (for every 14 candidates registering for the exam, only 1 is admitted).
This year's survey was held at 7 locations in District 1 and District 3, including: Luong The Vinh High School, Nguyen Du Middle School, Ban Co Middle School, Tran Dai Nghia Middle and High School, Ten Lo Man High School, Trung Vuong High School and Doan Thi Diem Middle School.

Taking her child to the exam site of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, Ms. Nguyen Yen Hoa (living in Thu Duc City) said: "I registered my child to take the exam to see how his learning ability is so that I can have better study orientation for him in the future. If he can get into grade 6 of the school, the family will be very happy, but if he doesn't pass, it's okay. This is an experience, a test for my child. He is also very comfortable and happy when taking the survey."
Candidates take the test in 90 minutes. The test is administered by the Department of Education and Training.
The test consists of 2 parts. Multiple choice part: 20 multiple choice questions (to be done in 30 minutes). Essay part (to be done in 60 minutes) consists of 3 parts: English proficiency test (listening, reading, writing), students take the test in English; Math and logical thinking ability test, students take the test in Vietnamese; Reading comprehension and writing ability test, students take the test in Vietnamese.

The survey site at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School had 720 candidates participating.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, based on the survey results, the Department will consider the list from highest to lowest until the quota is met. The survey results are expected to be announced on June 22.
Parents of students submit appeal applications from June 23 to before 4:30 p.m. on June 25 (if needed).
The results of the review are expected to be announced on June 29. Students who fail the exam will still be considered for admission to grade 6 according to the regulations of the District Admissions Steering Committee.
This is the second year that Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School has enrolled 6th graders after separating from Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School in May 2024.
Last year, grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School had a benchmark score of 67.5/100 points.
