On May 11, Tan Phu Secondary School (Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province) sent a report to the city's Department of Education and Training about the leaked math test for grade 8, semester 2, school year 2024-2025 and students having to retake the test on May 10.

Is the second exam more difficult than the first?

Regarding the leaked exam questions that happened at Tan Phu Secondary School, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, a parent of an 8th grade student (Tan Phu Secondary School) said he was very surprised when his child had to retake the math exam because the questions were leaked.

This person also said that this has had a significant impact on the student's psychology. In fact, after completing the re-exam on May 10, he burst into tears because he had only completed about 60% of the questions. In the previous exam, he was confident that he had completed about 90% of the questions, after going home and reviewing the results.

"The school announced on the block group that the exam was leaked, possibly due to hacking, but I don't think it's reasonable. After the exam was leaked, another exam was released. Many students who took the exam complained that it was difficult and they didn't do as well as they expected. I hope the school will clarify the reason for the leak and have a satisfactory answer for parents and students," said this parent.

Regarding the leaking of exam questions, according to information from parents, on the evening of May 8, the Principal of Tan Phu Secondary School informed parents that the school had noticed signs of hackers hacking information and leaking exam questions, so students were asked to retake the test on May 10 to ensure fairness for all students.

After students retook the test on May 10, many parents reported that the test was difficult. The school also responded to the grade group and explained that the second test closely followed the content of the first test and the textbook... The parts that students could not do showed that they were still negligent and had not studied the content in the textbooks and workbooks carefully...

What is the exam process like?

According to the report of Tan Phu Secondary School, regarding the process of creating and submitting test questions, the school assigned professional groups to assign teachers to create the questions, then send them to a separate gmail box (specialized for sending test papers), then the Board of Directors took them down, reviewed them and printed the questions.

When the 8th grade math exam was sent via email, the principal took it down, saved it to a file on his computer on the afternoon of May 7, edited it, and printed a copy for a teacher to print the exam for checking on Thursday (May 8). Then the principal also sent it to the cloud on his personal Zalo to check again at home.

On the morning of May 8, the school gave 8th grade math tests as planned and ended at 9:00 a.m. the same day.

At around 11am, the principal received a message from a student’s parent reporting that the test had been online since the evening of May 7, before the students took the test. After verifying the information, the school found that the test papers sent by students to each other online were 100% similar to the test papers given by the school, so they decided to let the students retake the test on the morning of May 10, and asked the homeroom teacher to notify the students and parents of the retest time.

Tan Phu Secondary School is continuing to review the leak of exam questions to take measures to handle the relevant groups and individuals according to regulations.
