
According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, China continues to be the largest market sending visitors with 1.95 million arrivals (accounting for 25.4%). South Korea ranks second, reaching 1.58 million arrivals (accounting for 20.6%). Taiwan (China) is in third place (440 thousand arrivals), and the US is fourth (323 thousand arrivals).
Among the 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism are Japan and Cambodia (280 thousand arrivals), Australia (205 thousand arrivals), India (204 thousand arrivals), Malaysia (182 thousand arrivals) and Thailand (169 thousand arrivals).
In terms of growth drivers, in the first four months of the year, the Chinese market increased sharply (56.7% compared to the same period in 2024), Japan increased by 8.9%, while the two markets of Taiwan and the US increased slightly. Some nearby markets in Southeast Asia grew rapidly, including the Philippines (98.3%), Cambodia (79.6%), and Laos (44.7%). The remaining markets increased slightly, including Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The Singapore market decreased slightly by 0.9%. The potential market of India achieved an increase of 29.0% and Australia increased by 14.1% compared to the same period last year.
Markets in Europe continued to grow steadily. Notably, the Russian market grew very well (110.9%), making this country the largest market sending visitors in Europe with more than 166,000 visitors to Vietnam in the first 4 months of the year, higher than the UK (155,000), France (137,000), and Germany (125,000).
Markets enjoying unilateral visa exemption policies have grown quite well, typically: UK (20.7%), France (24.7%), Germany (18.8%), Italy (32.6%), Spain (12.9%), Denmark (12.7%), Sweden (16.3%), Norway (11.5%).
In addition, the three markets exempted from short-term visas from March 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 under the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Program also recorded an increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period in 2024: Poland increased by 48.8%, Switzerland increased by 16.6%, and the Czech Republic increased by 1.5%.
Currently, the tourism industry is focusing on implementing campaigns to promote and advertise Vietnamese tourism abroad. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is organizing a program to launch a market to introduce Vietnamese tourism in France, Italy, and Switzerland from May 3 to 14, 2025. It is expected that this year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will organize 7 large-scale programs to introduce Vietnamese tourism abroad, with the participation of many localities and businesses to promote the image and brand, attracting international visitors to Vietnam.
