Continuing its annual concert series, the Green Wind Community Choir will have two shows “Loving Vietnam 2024” on October 12-13 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Hanoi .
Conductor Nguyen Hai Yen, the Green Wind Choir, the Green Wind Band and guest artists will together create surprising experiences for the audience.
It is a unique Acapella-style piece called “Rain” , a complete harmony praising life in favorable weather, the simple dream of each of us, especially after going through many storms.
The repertoire also includes a Hue folk song “Ly Ngua O” with a lively rhythm, expressing the eternal wish for couples to reunite; a heroic and romantic “Nguoi Ha Noi” sung passionately and proudly by those living in the land of a thousand years of civilization.
For the first time, Hanoi audiences were able to enjoy the entire 7 chapters of the Choral Suite “Five Drops of Water” - a composition by the late musician Hoang Luong, with arrangements for choir and symphony orchestra combined with the Vietnamese T'rung.
This is a story about 5 drops of water from 5 rivers and seas of the world , telling about the place where I was born, grew up and sharing the spirit of humanity, solidarity and love.
Not only that, “Wannabe-Spice up your life” and “They don't care about us,” international songs performed for the first time by Gió Xanh, promise to bring an explosion of emotions to the audience.
In particular, this year's program has a special section called "Dark Corner," which are deep moments, when you can just sit still, let the music flow into you, touch you, soothe you, support you, and unleash the inner strength that is already within you.
Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen, conductor of the Green Wind Choir, shared: “With the pride of being a Vietnamese community choir, we want to embrace everything that flows in the Vietnamese soul, through every generation, through many eras of life, like the flow of rivers carrying everything it passes through. And so, the program includes folk songs from several regions, revolutionary songs, new contemporary songs, foreign songs translated into Vietnamese, and classic songs from the world”./.
Founded in 2019 with 80 members, to date, Green Wind has gathered nearly 200 members from 6 to 86 years old. Green Wind is the first community choir to organize its own choral concert - an event that has become an annual event and is highly anticipated by audiences. In particular, Green Wind always reserves hundreds of seats for special guests: disadvantaged youth from social protection centers.
In 2020, 2022, 2023, Green Wind organized 8 non-profit concerts in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ha Long. More than 1,200 children from social protection centers were invited to enjoy the concert, of which more than 100 children performed with the choir in the program.
The organizers of Green Wind believe that enjoying beautiful sounds in high-quality auditoriums will bring children beautiful emotions, sow in them seeds of goodness and faith in good things in life.
On September 22, 2024, Green Wind turns 5 years old. On the same day, Green Wind's album "Greatest Green Wind" Vol 1 was officially released on international music platforms.
