The people of Me village, Yen Chau commune have just finished harvesting the winter-spring rice crop. As usual, after the harvest, each member of the Women's Union of the village brought a bag of rice to contribute to the "Charity Rice Jar" of the Union.

Mrs. Me Thi Sum, Me village, said: My family is not rich yet, but we voluntarily contribute rice to help poor households improve their lives. If the harvest is rich, I contribute a lot, if it is poor, I contribute a little, each time from 1 to 5 kg of rice. Although the amount of rice is not large, it is our sentiment to encourage and share the difficulties with poor members and households in difficult circumstances in the village.

Women's Union of Me village, Yen Chau commune held a meeting to deploy the "Love Rice Jar" model.

Touched when receiving bags of rice full of love from the sisters in the village, Ms. Lu Thi Xieng, a single mother in Me village, sadly said: During Tet or at the end of the year, receiving rice support from the contributions of the sisters, I am very grateful and feel warm. This is a great source of encouragement, helping me overcome difficulties.

Women's Union members of Me village donate charity rice.

In Chieng Hac commune, the "Love Rice Jar" model has also been implemented for many years. Ms. Ha Thi Diem, President of the Commune Women's Union, said: The whole commune has 8 branches implementing the "Love Rice Jar" model, mainly branches in mountainous and remote areas, far from the commune center. In addition to supporting poor members, the models also support rice for households with meritorious services to the revolution, families affected by natural disasters and fires. In the past 5 years, the model has donated nearly 750 kg of rice, supporting 11 members, 6 policy families, and 30 lonely elderly people. In addition, it has helped nearly 2,000 working days and donated nearly 1,300 bundles of firewood to policy families.

In recent years, the Provincial Women's Union has focused on promoting the study and following of Uncle Ho through practical and effective actions. In particular, the model "Charity Rice Jar" has been widely responded to by female cadres and members, demonstrating profound humanity. The Union has directed all levels of the union to actively propagate and mobilize the significance of the model to its members; deploy pilot models to expand. Up to now, many typical union bases, such as: Yen Chau commune, Muong Sai, Sop Cop, Phu Yen...

The model is considered easy to implement, because most of the member households grow rice in the fields or on the slopes. The donated rice is divided into small bags and delivered directly to the poor households in the village. The model is enthusiastically supported by the members, in the spirit of volunteerism, those who have a lot contribute a lot, those who have little contribute a little. On International Women's Day (March 8), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), etc., the women's associations collect rice and money from members to support poor members and families with meritorious services.

Since the beginning of the year, from the model of "Love Rice Jar" and the contributions and support of members, the association's facilities have supported more than 4,000 kg of rice, 130 million VND, more than 7,000 bundles of firewood, 8,300 bundles of leaves, and 2,271 working days... for poor women and policy families.

Me village association, Yen Chau commune supports rice for lonely elderly people.

Ms. Cam Thi Hong Duyen, President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to direct branches to maintain and expand the model, especially in remote, border areas. Build more savings models suitable to the characteristics of each facility, to support poor women members and policy families. Thereby, attracting members to participate in union activities, effectively implementing women's movements.

The model of "Charity Rice Jar" is like a thread connecting the kind hearts of the members in the branch, contributing to enhancing the spirit of solidarity in the grassroots association, adding confidence to those in difficult circumstances to rise up in life.
