Focus on the patient.

In addition to striving to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, many healthcare facilities also provide free medical services or practical support to facilitate patients' treatment processes.

At the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, many free services have been implemented for patients and their families when they come for examinations. One example is the "Sharing Umbrella" service recently launched by the Youth Union of the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital. These umbrellas, embodying the care and sharing spirit of young medical staff , are placed in various areas such as the hospital's parking lot, the lobby in front of the specialist examination area, and the pharmacy lobby, making them easily visible and usable by patients and their families during rainy or hot weather. In addition, the hospital has prepared 50 salt stone tables and 2 full-body salt stone tables for patients and their families to use free of charge while waiting for their turn for examinations or procedures.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, residing in Group 25, Coc Leu Ward (Lao Cai City), is one of many patients who regularly use the salt stone foot bath while waiting for their examination. Ms. Hoa shared: “Soaking my feet in the salt stone bath makes me feel relaxed. For those who don't know how to use it, the hospital staff are always helpful in guiding them. Being able to use this free service, which is good for my health, I am very grateful for the hospital's care.”

The Traditional Medicine Department (Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital) has set up 12 free salt stone tables. Dr. Nguyen My Binh, Head of the Traditional Medicine Department, said: Using salt stones is a simple, safe method that brings many health benefits, but not everyone can afford to buy and use them. Salt stones have effects on bones and joints, warming the soles of the feet. According to traditional medicine, the soles of the feet are a focal point for detoxification, calming the nerves, and treating muscle, bone, and joint diseases. Using them while waiting helps patients and their families feel more comfortable. In addition to salt stones, during treatment at the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, patients also receive other free services such as osteoporosis treatment with X-rays and infrared light therapy.

At the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital, every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday lunchtime becomes more bustling with the presence of volunteers from the Charitable Kitchen and the Hanoi Pink Heart Club. They arrive bringing free, warm, delicious, and nutritious meals of rice and porridge, complete with minced meat, carrots, pumpkin, and scallions, to give to patients. Patient Pham Thi Nhi shared: “I have been receiving treatment at the hospital for a long time, and due to difficulties in getting around, I am often cared for by the volunteers who bring porridge to my bedside. I am very touched. Thank you for the kindness of these benefactors!”

The "suspended meal" kitchen at the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital is always busy every day. These "suspended meals"—meals purchased by philanthropists or by hospital staff themselves from the canteen, or donated to the Social Work Team—are given to poor patients to share their burdens and provide them with motivation to continue treatment and overcome their illnesses. Ms. Nong Thi Hau, Head of the Social Work Team at the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital, shared: "The hospital is unique in that patients require long-term treatment, and many are in difficult circumstances. Therefore, we hope to connect with many philanthropists to help more patients during their treatment."

Recently, doctors from the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital also visited remote villages and hamlets in mountainous areas to provide free disability screening and conduct rehabilitation training for people with disabilities and their families in the community.

Not only at the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital and the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital, but also at many other medical units, numerous activities such as free medical examinations, treatments, and volunteer medical services for the community have been and are being implemented. Free clothing donation boxes are constantly replenished, and free haircut programs and charitable meal distributions are being maintained thanks to the joint efforts of medical staff and philanthropists. These deeply humane activities, stemming from medical ethics and compassion, are being extended to help patients.
