- On the morning of April 26, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Huu Lung district organized a meeting with war veterans and former youth volunteers on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Attending the program were leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district; representatives of leaders of a number of agencies and units of the district and 142 delegates who are war veterans and former youth volunteers in the district.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Huu Lung district had over 1,000 young men and women enlisting in the army and over 400 young volunteers participating in combat service. Of these, 556 cadres, soldiers and young volunteers heroically sacrificed their lives; 117 wounded soldiers left a part of their blood and bones on the battlefield; 23 revolutionary soldiers were imprisoned by the enemy and over 100 people participating in the resistance were infected with toxic chemicals used by the US army during the war.
In recognition of the contributions of the army and people of Huu Lung district, the Party and State awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" to 2 comrades, and 24 mothers were awarded the title "Heroic Vietnamese Mothers".
Speaking at the meeting, the leaders of Huu Lung district respectfully sent their best wishes, sincere greetings and deep gratitude to the war veterans and former youth volunteers. He also informed about some outstanding results in various fields that the district has achieved in recent times. At the same time, he expressed his belief that the war veterans and former youth volunteers, with their love and responsibility for their homeland and country, with their talent and creativity, will continue to promote the tradition and qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the tradition of Vietnamese war veterans, self-reliance, dynamism, creativity, striving to successfully implement the goals set by the Party and the State, contributing to the development of the district.
On this occasion, 142 war veterans and former youth volunteers received gifts from the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Huu Lung district, each gift worth 1 million VND.
