Yen Thuy District: Exciting competition to build cultural residential areas and families

With the emulation movement to build cultural residential areas (KDC) and cultural families (GĐVH) becoming increasingly vibrant and widespread, Yen Thuy district has been successfully implementing the goal of improving the material and spiritual life of the people, building a civilized, prosperous and progressive community.

The cultural house of Ho Long hamlet, Ngoc Luong commune (Yen Thuy) was built spaciously, effectively, and met the needs of community activities.

Comrade Tran Trung Kien, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Yen Thuy district, said: In recent years, the emulation movement to build cultural residential areas and cultural households has been carried out by the district in parallel with major social movements and campaigns such as: "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas"; "Join hands for the poor - No one is left behind", "Green - clean - beautiful - safe and hygienic work", "Cadres, civil servants and public employees compete to practice office culture", "Cadres, civil servants and public employees say no to negativity"; "Day for the poor"; practicing civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals and festivals; preventing and combating social evils; building traffic culture...

Along with that, the district focuses on disseminating to the people the standards, benefits, and procedures for recognition of cultural residential areas and cultural households. Authorities at all levels, especially at the commune level, focus on inspecting and evaluating the actual standards to consider and recognize the titles; raising people's awareness to promote active participation.

The movement to build a cultural family continues to receive attention and direction and is supported by the people. The annual National Great Unity Day in residential areas is also an opportunity for households to register for the title. The criteria for building a cultural family are voluntarily implemented by households, becoming a daily routine for each member, creating a healthy cultural environment within each family.

On the other hand, in order to complete and improve the criteria on cultural facilities in the National Criteria for New Rural Construction, especially the content of building cultural houses (NCH) or cultural and sports activities in villages and hamlets, the District People's Committee has approved the project to Support the construction, repair and upgrading of cultural houses in hamlets and neighborhoods in the district, period 2021 - 2025, with 80 houses supported, total cost of over 8.3 billion VND. Up to now, the whole district has 112 hamlets and neighborhoods, 11/11 communes and towns have cultural houses and 1 central cultural house of the district. The cultural houses have been invested in construction, repair and upgrading, contributing to improving living and meeting places, creating favorable conditions for organizing political , cultural, artistic and sports activities. In addition, Project 6 under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas has provided sound support for 31 cultural houses and outdoor sports equipment for 39 hamlets and neighborhoods in the area.

The tasks of local sectors and organizations are linked to movements and campaigns on "Teaching well - Learning well", "Building green - clean - beautiful schools", "Old age - Bright example", "Good farmers and businessmen", "Building Vietnamese women of the new era", "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's, contributing to fostering Vietnamese family values", "Studying, working, and being creative among cadres, workers, and civil servants", "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", "Exemplary veterans", "Vietnamese youth live, fight, work, and study following the example of great Uncle Ho", "Building a healthy cultural environment in armed forces units"...

In 2024, the whole Yen Thuy district had 16,122/17,748 households achieving the title of Cultural Household, accounting for 90.86%; 97/115 residential areas achieving the title of Cultural Household, accounting for 84.35%. Also according to the Head of the District Department of Culture, Science and Information, besides the achieved results, the emulation movement to build Cultural Households and Cultural Residential Areas still has some shortcomings and limitations, such as: The launching of registration, organization of review and evaluation of cultural titles in some communes and some agencies and units is not timely...

To promote the achieved results, towards building a civilized living environment, ensuring security and order, with many cultural, sports and entertainment activities for people, the district continues to link the emulation movement with 5 contents of the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas"; discover and replicate examples of good people, good deeds, and advanced models in all areas of social life; increase the mobilization of resources to invest in building and improving the quality of activities of cultural and sports institutions at the grassroots level.
