In March 2023, it was announced that the Emmy-winning actress (from Ted Lasso ) would join Tom Cruise and the Mission: Impossible 8 crew to film breathtaking scenes on the aircraft carrier. However, Waddingham's role in the film remains a mystery.

"He was lovely and wonderful to work with, that's all. We flew on the Ossprey to the USS George HW Bush - which was sailing with 4,500 servicemen. It was crazy! Tom and Christopher McQuarrie were on a dream ship," Waddingham said of working with Tom Cruise.
Hannah Waddingham told ITV's James Martin's Saturday Morning that she spent five days aboard the USS George HW Bush filming scenes for Mission: Impossible 8. She revealed there were still "a bunch of other scenes" to film with Tom Cruise after production restarted due to the Hollywood strikes.

"I have to say, I was really impressed with Tom Cruise. I met him and spent five memorable days with him... Tom is definitely one of the most lovely and encouraging people. He is always full of positive energy, inspiring people, and very handsome," Waddingham added.
Mission: Impossible 8 was scheduled to hit theaters on June 28, 2024, but Paramount Pictures postponed it for nearly a year, moving it to May 23, 2025, due to strike-related production delays. Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part One hit theaters in 2023 to positive reviews but fell short of box office expectations, grossing just $567 million worldwide against a production budget of $290 million.
Before Waddingham starred in Mission: Impossible 8 with Tom Cruise, Hannah Waddingham starred in Universal Pictures' action comedy The Fall Guy , co-starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. The film is scheduled to be released on May 3.
