According to sources from Digital Chat Station , the iPhone e series focusing on the low-cost segment will be upgraded in the first half of 2026. Specifically, this leaker revealed that the iPhone 17e model will have an important change in design, switching from a rabbit ear screen to Dynamic Island.

However, this upgrade comes with a familiar trade-off in the low-cost segment. Accordingly, the iPhone 17e's screen will only support a 60Hz refresh rate. This is not surprising since Apple has only just supported ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate on the standard iPhone 17 line.

For the iPhone 18 Pro, Digital Chat Station revealed that the overall design will not have major changes in appearance. The new model will retain the same basic rear camera design as this year's iPhone 17 Pro version.

However, the source also mentioned the possibility of a slight change in the transparent glass frame below the camera. Maintaining this design shows that Apple has found a stable camera arrangement for the Pro versions, after previous major changes.

In a further move into the future, AppleInsider reveals that Apple is said to be preparing a revolution in image quality on the 20th anniversary edition dubbed the iPhone 20.

Specifically, the 20th anniversary version of the iPhone is expected to integrate LOFIC technology into the CMOS sensor, a change that could significantly improve image quality.

LOFIC technology allows each pixel to store an overflow charge when it receives too much light, significantly expanding the dynamic range that can be recorded. This helps capture better detail in both extremely high and extremely low light conditions.

In particular, the LOFIC sensor can expand the dynamic range up to 20 stops, the same level as high-end cinema cameras. For comparison, the current iPhone 17 series only reaches about 13 stops.

With LOFIC, HDR details are also captured in a single exposure. This eliminates motion artifacts that occur when multiple exposures are taken and then merged together like conventional HDR technology.
