Apple is currently testing iOS 26, which is expected to launch next month alongside the iPhone 17 series. This new OS version offers a completely different fast experience, thanks to some tweaks in the effects section, according to GSM Arena.
Accordingly, each effect (animation) will be completed a little sooner, about 150 milliseconds. This reduction in duration is accompanied by smoother and more rapid pacing, making the user feel that every action will be responded to quickly.
In fact, this is a form of improving user experience (UX) through visual elements, not related to hardware upgrades such as CPU, GPU. Although the change in numbers is very small, the perceived impact is large because it hits the user's immediate feedback psychology.
Animation is the visual “wait” between when you give a command and when the result is displayed. Shortening animations simply reduces the false wait time, helping your brain receive the signal that the action is being responded to more quickly. Meanwhile, proper pacing makes everything appear seamless, reducing the feeling of freezing between actions.
Android, especially with interface customization companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, has long allowed to adjust animation speed. Users can even turn it off completely, or set the default low effect time through the Developer Options feature.
Apple has traditionally locked down animation customization to ensure a consistent experience, so this is a notable change for iOS users. Many Android versions also default to faster animations than older iOS versions, making Android fans feel a few years ahead of Apple, according to Gsmarena.
This is a great idea from Apple, but it’s been around on other devices for years. However, their implementation is system-wide, ensuring that all animations (app launches, app switching, dual screens, etc.) match, with cadence tweaks to keep the signature smooth feel.
On August 14, Apple released the third public beta of iOS 26 along with iPadOS 26, focusing on UI tweaks, bug fixes, and performance improvements. iOS 26 brings a completely new interface called Liquid Glass, with transparency and brightness, inspired by visionOS, creating depth for icons, menus, and widgets.
New features include Apple Intelligence like Visual Intelligence for screenshots, order tracking in the Wallet app, and live translation for Messages, Phone, and FaceTime. Leaks suggest iOS 26 and iPhone 17 will launch in the fall, following the company's annual schedule.
