UEFA's ban means Juventus will definitely miss the Europa Conference League in the 2023-2024 season.
Fiorentina, who finished eighth in Serie A last season, are likely to replace the Old Lady of Turin in the tournament. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) must submit an application, before UEFA will confirm it in the coming time.
The move by European football's governing body also sees Aston Villa move from unseeded to seeded for the Europa Conference League play-offs in August.
In addition to the above ban, UEFA also fined Juventus 10 million euros. The Allianz Stadium team will have to pay an additional fine of the same amount if they continue to violate financial regulations in the period 2023-2025.
After UEFA's tough decision, Juventus confirmed that they will comply. President Gianluca Ferrero affirmed that filing an appeal could prolong the case and not achieve the expected result. This could cause Juventus to lose their place in the Champions League for the 2024-2025 season.
Accepting the decision from UEFA shows that, instead of arguing in court, Juventus wants to end the difficult time to focus on the new season. Thereby helping the team, fans, sponsors and financial partners can enjoy the new season with peace of mind.
UEFA opened a formal investigation into Juventus in December 2022 over allegations of financial irregularities, market manipulation and player transfer pricing. In May 2023, the club agreed to a €718,000 fine as part of a deal with the FIGC to end the sanctions.
