JVPF awarded scholarships and gifts in Bac Giang

The Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) recently visited, worked with and awarded 20 scholarships (each worth 3 million VND) to ethnic minority students with excellent achievements at Luc Son Secondary School, Luc Nam District, Bac Giang. The delegation was led by Mr. Kawajl Takashi, Chairman of JVPF Kagoshima Prefecture, a member of JVPF.

This is the second year that JVPF has awarded scholarships to students of the school. According to the agreement with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Bac Giang Province, JVPF will maintain the scholarship program for students of Luc Son Secondary School for 5 school years (from the 2023-2024 school year), 20 scholarships each year. The program aims to encourage and motivate ethnic minority students with difficult circumstances to strive to excel in their studies.

Luc Son Secondary School currently has 381 students, studying in 11 classes. Of these, 62.7% are students of the Tay, Nung, San Chi, Dao, Cao Lan ethnic groups... The learning conditions of the students in the commune are still difficult.

The scholarship awarding activity is part of the 2025 non-profit aid mobilization program supported by the Union of Friendship Organizations of Bac Giang province, mobilizing JVPF to support, focusing on the following areas:education - training; health and public health care; vocational education; agriculture, forestry, fishery and rural development.

JVPF hopes that ethnic minority students in Bac Giang will continue to strive to study to have the opportunity to receive other types of scholarships from the Japanese Government in the future.

On this occasion, the Delegation visited and presented gifts (each worth 2 million VND) to two families affected by Agent Orange/dioxin: the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan (born in 1949, Tan Tien village, Huong Gian commune, Bac Giang city) and the family of Mr. Dao Xuan Au (born in 1945, Song Khe 2 residential group, Song Khe ward, Bac Giang city).

The JVPF’s working trip to Bac Giang took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. This is a practical activity that contributes to fostering the friendship between the people of Vietnam and Japan, while deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the world.
