Vietnam Karate excelled in winning 3 Asian Gold Medals

The Vietnamese karate team won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Karate Championship.

On May 25, at the 2025 Asian Karate Championship held in Uzbekistan, martial artist Hoang Thi My Tam showed impressive performance in the women's individual 55kg competition, defeating Saadati Fateme (Iran) 5-0 in the final.

Before that, My Tam was exempted from competing in round 1. After that, My Tam beat Shrestha Sabina (Nepal) 2-0 in round 2, beat Shima Airi (Japan) 7-2 in the quarter-finals and defeated Wei Yuchun (China) 12-9 in the semi-finals.

In addition to My Tam’s individual medal, the Vietnamese karate team also won the team performance medal thanks to the efforts of martial artists Bui Ngoc Nhi, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Ngoc Tram and Nguyen Thi Phuong. In the final, the Vietnamese karate martial artists defeated China with a total score of 42.1 from the judges, while their opponents only scored 41.7 points.

This is a memorable women's team performance medal for the Vietnamese karate team. After 10 years, the team won a gold medal in the Asian Championship, the last time in 2015 with the team including Nguyen Hoang Ngan, Do Thi Thu Ha, Nguyen Thi Hang.

At the end of the competition day on May 25, the Vietnamese Karate team won the third gold medal in the women's team competition, after defeating Kazakhstan 2-0 in the final match.

In addition to 3 medals, the Vietnamese karate team also won a bronze medal in the individual performance thanks to martial artist Nguyen Ngoc Tram.

Sharing about the team's achievements, head coach of the Vietnam karate team Duong Hoang Long said: "This is a commendable achievement of the students. We are very touched by this result. Congratulations to the students and this achievement is the effort of all athletes."

In the end, the Vietnamese karate team ranked 3rd at the 2025 Asian Karate Championship. The two leading countries were Kazakhstan (4 gold medals) and Japan (3 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 4 bronze medals).
