
Diverse imprints of Vietnamese authors
This summer, children are waiting for many new, diverse, attractive and creative literary works by a team of Vietnamese authors. The most prominent are prose and short stories with the creative participation of many generations of authors from 6X, 7X, 8X to 9X...
The latest work for children is "My name is Hope" by veteran writer Y Ban, which tells the story of the survival journey of children lost in the deep forest, overcoming pain and fear with hope and faith. "The ancient book of a mother goddess" by author Nguyen Hoang Dieu Thuy is the story of two sisters Mai and Pu returning to their hometown to live with their grandparents, separated from phones and tablets. In the same context, "The farm at the end of the forest" by author Pham Cong Luan brings the adventure of two city boys whose parents let them live a whole summer on a large farm. Author Dang Ngoc Hung takes children back several decades in the past through the memoir "Train railway housing complex". Meanwhile, the novel "120 years of wandering of the gray-black turtle Greece" by author Dang Chuong Ngan is the journey of a turtle over a century, through many lands and witnessing major historical events of humanity.
Dy Duyen's two books "From the vegetable fields at Cuc Cu Farm" and "Things you use to fill a hole" are both excellent works for children. "From the vegetable fields at Cuc Cu Farm" opens up the "surreal" beauty of Cuc Cu Farm. And "Things you use to fill a hole" is a work that combines very interesting drawings, taking readers into an attractive fantasy world ...
The poetry section also has many interesting new compositions, such as the poetry collection containing the desire to preserve the flow of the Vietnamese soul - "A oi" by author Vu Thi Thanh Tam. Poetry and illustrations blend together rhythmically, making the entire work like a detailed picture of young poetic dreams. "There is a flat Earth in your eyes" by author Ly Thang Long is a very special collection of poems for children, rich in philosophy and thought, expressing the profound vision of a young person writing for the world of children.
The comic book section includes “Captain Sinbad’s Adventure: The Battle of the Little Mermaid” by artist Quang Thao and Comicola Studio. The work is about Captain Sinbad and his journey to protect the truth and destroy evil, reminding children of the importance of love and awareness of protecting the ocean, the habitat of all species. Notably, the comic book series originating from the “Once Upon a Time” play series has sold more than 14,000 tickets…
Add creative cheering space
As co-author of “The Flying Bus” - the work that won the 2024 Vietnam Writers Association Award in the children's book category, author Huynh Long shared that nowadays, children often spend their free time playing games, immersing themselves in the imaginary world in games. With the desire to help children understand love, stimulate good imagination through literature, along with the interest in children's reading from parents, author Huynh Long continues to devote himself.
Having closely followed children’s literature for many years, writer Van Thanh Le (Kim Dong Publishing House) believes that prose with new works by young authors such as Dy Duyen, Lac An... is creating a change for this creative field. “The feeling of a generation thinking differently, writing differently, newer, closer to world children’s literature has appeared,” writer Van Thanh Le commented.
Vu Khanh My (10 years old, in Cau Giay district, Hanoi) expressed: "I like reading adventure stories, fantasy stories or stories about animals with supernatural powers. I also want to learn about childhood in the past, as my parents often told me, through books and stories". Writer Thai Chi Thanh, Chairman of the Children's Literature Council (Vietnam Writers Association) said that literary works written for children must first of all focus on humanity and innocence to create appeal. To suit today's readers, literature written for this age group must be innovative, penetrating surrealist themes... instead of stopping at monotonous images of the moon, the sun, cats, custard apples...
It is gratifying that along with the children's literature awards organized such as: De Men Children's Award (Sports & Culture Newspaper), Children's Literature Award (Vietnam Writers Association), Kim Dong Literature Award (Kim Dong Publishing House) ...; to welcome this summer, the Children's Literature Council together with Thieu Nien and Nhi Dong Newspaper launched the special publication "Children's Literature" No. 1. It includes works by writers for children who are familiar with them, as well as works by emerging writers and children from all over the country. In addition, the publication also includes critical theories on children's literature, paintings, children's music, illustrations by famous artists and children ...
With such encouraging spaces, children's literature will have the motivation to develop, continue to accompany and nurture the souls of Vietnamese children.
