France A computer bag and two USB sticks containing security plans for the Paris Olympics were stolen from a train, prompting a police investigation.

Paris police announced on February 27 that the bag was placed in the overhead compartment by an engineer working at Paris City Hall when he boarded a train at Gare du Nord station in the French capital the previous evening. Due to a delay, the man decided to change to another train and discovered that the bag was missing.

The engineer said the bag contained a computer and two USB sticks containing confidential data, in particular police plans to ensure security for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Regional traffic police are investigating and searching for the stolen bag.

Paris City Hall has not responded to a request for comment.

The Paris Olympics run from July 26 to August 11. During this time, about 2,000 police officers and 35,000 security personnel will be deployed every day to ensure security for the event.

Paris has seen several large-scale terrorist attacks, including the 2015 Bataclan concert hall massacre, which left 130 people dead.
