According to updated information from the Bangkok Post , among the victims were two Asian Americans, Dang Hung Van (55 years old) and Chong Sherine (56 years old). The remaining four victims were Vietnamese, including: Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan (47 years old), Pham Hong Thanh (49 years old), Tran Dinh Phu (37 years old), Nguyen Thi Phuong (46 years old).
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said police believe the victims died about 24 hours before they were discovered. Police are currently searching for another Vietnamese national.
Speaking at a press conference on the evening of July 16, Prime Minister Thavisin confirmed that there was no indication that this was an assault or robbery.
Meanwhile, Major General Theeradej Thamsuthee informed at the same press conference that six people may have been poisoned. Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang said that according to the preliminary investigation, all the victims were murdered by others.
There were a total of six drinks glasses in the room where the murder took place, each with some residue at the bottom. The police are conducting an autopsy to see what the victims had eaten.

The incident occurred at the luxury Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Bangkok. This hotel has more than 350 rooms, located in a famous tourist district, with many restaurants and shopping centers in Bangkok.
According to Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, Prime Minister Thavisin has ordered local authorities to take urgent steps to contain panic among tourists and residents.

Previously, the Thai government's statement stated: "The Prime Minister has directed relevant agencies to act quickly to avoid negative impacts on the tourism industry."
Tourism plays a major role in Thailand's economy, accounting for about 20% of total employment and contributing about 12% to the country's $500 billion economy.
Last year, Thailand welcomed more than 28 million foreign visitors who spent more than 33 billion USD here.
The Thai government aims to attract about 35 million foreign visitors in 2024 thanks to a number of visa relaxation policies. By 2027, Prime Minister Srettha's administration aims to attract 80 million tourists.
