Giving savings book to old lady who has taken care of poor students for 32 years

(QBĐT) - On the afternoon of June 20, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh district visited and presented a savings book to Ms. Tran Thi Mac, in Xuan Duc 2 village, Xuan Ninh commune (Quang Ninh), who had outstanding achievements in the movement to encourage learning and talent.

Leaders of Quang Ninh District People's Committee and benefactors presented savings books to Ms. Tran Thi Mac.

For over 32 years, Ms. Tran Thi Mac has taken in more than 40 poor students from Truong Son commune (Quang Ninh) to stay for free while they study high school at the district school.

In the past, Mrs. Mac often rowed a boat up the Long Dai River, bringing goods from the lowlands to exchange with people in the mountainous commune of Truong Son. Through conversations, Mrs. Mac learned that many students dropped out of school after finishing grade 9 because the high school was far away. Many of them came from poor families and did not have money to rent a room, so their studies were interrupted. She discussed with her husband about welcoming students from Truong Son commune to live in her house, especially ethnic minority students with difficult circumstances.

Leaders of Quang Ninh District People's Committee and Dat Quang Design and Advertising Company Limited presented a savings book to Ms. Tran Thi Mac.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh district, Dat Quang Design and Advertising Company Limited and some kind-hearted individuals in Hanoi presented a savings book worth 20 million VND to Ms. Tran Thi Mac.
