Ms. Dao Hoang Hai Linh - Sales Director of Cathay Pacific Vietnam - said that from October 26, the airline will increase the frequency of round-trip flights per week from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong to 30 flights compared to the current 24 flights/week.

The adjustment is to meet the growing demand for travel between the two markets. In addition, HK Express , a member of the Cathay Group, is also operating 49 flights per week from Hanoi, Da Nang , Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc to Hong Kong.

The combination of the two brands significantly expands the connection network between Vietnam and this international aviation hub, strongly supporting both tourism and two-way trade .

According to Ms. Linh, Cathay Pacific currently connects more than 100 global destinations . In 2025, the airline will launch new routes to Xinjiang, Dallas, Munich and restore routes such as Rome, Brussels, Adelaide and Changsha .

Notably, the Hong Kong - Dallas (US) route was launched in April 2025 with 4 flights/week , but in October 2025, the airline will increase the frequency to daily flights . "Dallas is an important gateway to the US, currently of great interest to Vietnamese passengers," said Ms. Linh.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Hong Kong has been increasing strongly in the past two years, especially after Hong Kong implemented the e-visa policy and increased tourism promotion campaigns.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said that from January to July 2025, Hong Kong welcomed more than 39,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of 46.6% over the same period last year.

However, this number may be higher when compared to many other destinations in the Asian region, the Hong Kong visa application process is still quite long, on average 3 weeks, with required documents proving profession and financial proof.

In contrast, the number of Hong Kong visitors to Vietnam has also recovered quickly, thanks to the restoration and expansion of direct flights, along with the attraction of destinations such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang, which are considered "resort paradises" in the region.
