After many years of 'incubation', for the first time Can Tho organizes a river culture festival

Can Tho city leaders said that after many years of 'incubation', for the first time the city will organize the Can Tho River Culture Festival in 2025 with 12 main activities and many sideline activities.

On the afternoon of December 1, the People's Committee of Can Tho city held a press conference to inform about the Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025, with the theme "Can Tho - Colors of Rivers".

Accordingly, the festival will take place from December 26, 2025 to January 1, 2026 with 12 main activities such as the photo exhibition "Rhythm of life on the river - The West past and present" at Ben Ninh Kieu park; acoustic street music performance in Cai Khe canal area; culinary performance program at Hau river park; sailboat racing on Hau river; parade and SUP racing tournament of Can Tho city in 2025 (in Cai Khe canal area).

There are also activities such as: organizing exhibition spaces, introducing products, typical cuisine, OCOP products, promoting local tourism products; organizing activities to visit sports and health booths; flyboard demonstration and the Can Tho City Open Composite Shell Racing Championship in 2025.

In particular, within the framework of the festival, there was also a workshop "Can Tho City Tourism - A breakthrough development push".

In addition to the main activities, there are also auxiliary activities such as environmental protection (the City People's Committee has directed communes and wards to do it simultaneously) through organizing garbage collection, cleaning river banks, calling on people to protect the environment...

Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep said that after many years of "incubation", this is the first time the city has organized the above river festival.

The city hopes to promote the city's image to domestic and international friends through the festival, stimulate tourism, thereby contributing to growth in 2025 and the following years. At the same time, it is a premise for river culture festivals in the following years.

According to Ms. Diep, up to now, the number of tourists visiting the city has reached nearly 10 million (reaching more than 90% of the 2025 plan), with revenue reaching more than VND 8,600 billion, an increase of 25% over the same period in 2024.
