According to the Department of Tourism , the decision to postpone the event was made after the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee reviewed and evaluated the actual conditions related to the scale, preparation progress as well as the coordination requirements between departments, branches and participating units. On that basis, the City agreed not to organize the festival according to the previously announced plan.
The Department of Tourism said it will continue to research and advise on a new organization time and provide official information immediately after approval by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, creating conditions for units, localities and businesses to proactively arrange and coordinate implementation in the coming time.

Previously, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival was scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 31, lasting more than a month with a series of rich cultural and tourism activities along the Saigon River, the canal system and ports in the city. The highlight is the live show Signature Show - The Bridge Through Space, combining music, dance, circus and modern performance technology. In addition, the festival also has many outstanding activities such as "on the wharf, under the boat" space, street carnival, light art, boat racing, food festival and a series of events to stimulate waterway tourism. These activities aim to promote the image of the river city, while strengthening tourism connections between Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities.
Held for the first time in 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival is considered a new festival model that opens up a creative approach in developing community tourism, connecting people with the city's unique cultural and economic flow.
According to the latest statistics, in the past 11 months, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry has achieved revenue of about VND233,566 billion, completing 80.5% of the 2025 plan. The city is vigorously implementing product groups with high added value such as medical tourism, MICE tourism, night tourism and culinary tourism. In particular, products of panoramic city views by helicopter and waterway tourism are attracting the attention of the high-end customer segment.
