Immediately after the opening ceremony, the final round of the 18th Bac Ha District Traditional Horse Racing Tournament in 2025 took place, with the participation of 32 excellent jockeys selected from the qualifying round, from Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, and Son La .
The jockeys are divided into races, with each race having 4 horses. Each race, the jockeys have to go through 4 laps of the stadium.
In the final race, the audience witnessed the exciting and dramatic competition of 4 jockeys: Trang A Ma (62), Trang A Gio (43) from Bat Xat district and Lam Van Thieu (70), Nong Van Nghinh (69) from Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province.
After 4 laps, with a distance of 1.2 km, jockey Lam Van Thieu (70) excellently finished first after 2 minutes 05 seconds 57, just over 1 second ahead of second place Trang A Ma (62). Jockey Trang A Gio (43) finished third with a time of 2 minutes 15 seconds 76; fourth place was jockey Nong Van Nghinh (69).
At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the jockeys, including trophies and sponsor prizes.
The first prize was awarded to jockey Lam Van Thieu from Ham Yen (Tuyen Quang); the second prize was awarded to jockey Trang A Ma from Bat Xat district; the third prize was awarded to jockey Trang A Gio from Bat Xat district; the fourth prize was awarded to jockey Nong Van Nghinh, from Ham Yen (Tuyen Quang).
In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded team prizes to the participating delegations. Accordingly, three jockeys Lam Van Thieu, Nong Van Nghinh and Nguyen Van Binh from the Ham Yen district racing delegation (Tuyen Quang) won the first team prize; three jockeys from Bat Xat district including Trang A Gio, Trang A Ma and Giang A Hoa won the second team prize; the third team prize was awarded to three jockeys from Si Ma Cai district including Vang Van Lam, Nong Van Toan and Vang Seo Vu.
In particular, at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Bac Ha White Plateau Festival and the final round of the 18th Bac Ha District Traditional Horse Racing Tournament, there was a Sinh Tien stick dance performance by 600 Mong ethnic students from schools in Thai Giang Pho and Ban Pho communes; High School No. 1 and the Bac Ha District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities. The performance was considered to set a record for the number of participants, leaving a good impression on locals and tourists.
The 2025 Bac Ha White Plateau Festival and the 18th Bac Ha District Traditional Horse Race are not only an opportunity to promote culture and tourism but also contribute to preserving traditional values, creating momentum for local socio-economic development.
