Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong emphasized: After 15 years of organization, Hue City has always considered the Conference an important forum for local and regional authorities to discuss common issues that the community is concerned about and facing, exchange policy measures, enhance mutual understanding through open discussion and find solutions to solve problems of mutual concern. “We hope that the 14th Conference in 2025 held in Hue City will fulfill its mission, which is to continue the successes of previous conferences, while opening up new opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development of the dynamic East Asia region in the integration period,” emphasized Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong.

Developing green, sustainable tourism and developing smart cities are important pillars to realize the goal of green, sustainable and inclusive development. These two areas are both closely linked and open up many opportunities for substantive cooperation between localities and international partners.

With the determination to move towards a future of cooperation, prosperity and sustainable development for the East Asia region, right after the opening ceremony, delegates focused on discussing difficulties and challenges; sharing experiences and development solutions on two main topics including "Developing green and sustainable tourism" and "Developing smart cities".
