Opening of the Ba Chua Xu Sam Mountain Festival in Chau Doc

On the evening of May 28, at Vinh Dong Trade Center, Nui Sam Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the national festival of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mountain in 2024 and celebrated the 10th anniversary of this festival being included in the list of "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" (2014-2024).

The festival of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mountain in Chau Doc is a traditional festival, preserved and practiced by many generations of Chau Doc people.

This year's festival takes place with many activities such as: Lion and dragon parade in ceremonial costumes carrying the statue of the Lady and ceremonial costumes carrying the statue of the Lady of the Land on May 29; the bathing ceremony in the early morning of May 31; the ceremony to invite the divine decree and the Tuc Yet and Xay Chau ceremonies taking place on June 1...

Notably, this year, the People's Committee of An Giang province decided not to collect entrance fees to the Sam Mountain National Tourist Area for visitors during the Sam Mountain Lady Festival from May 28 to June 3.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that this festival plays a particularly important role in the spiritual and cultural life of Chau Doc city people, containing historical and cultural values ​​typical of the Southern cultural flow.
