
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed: Drama has long been considered one of the indispensable art forms in the spiritual life of the people. Over the years, the creative efforts of the team of artists and drama actors from professional art units across the country have contributed significantly to promoting the development of the performing arts industry in general and drama in particular.
According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, the organization of the "National Drama Festival - 2024" aims to discover and honor collectives and individuals with achievements in the process of working and creating dramatic art; it is also an opportunity for dramatic art units to train the next generation of artists and actors; it brings opportunities for artists and actors to exchange, learn experiences, cultivate knowledge, improve professional qualifications and the quality of dramatic art performances to serve the people.

“In addition, the Festival is also an opportunity for state management agencies from central to local levels to correctly assess the current state of drama activities, promptly propose new methods of operation, find solutions to overcome existing problems, promote drama development in accordance with social life, and meet the needs of people nationwide to enjoy art in the new era,” Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.
The 2024 National Drama Festival brings together nearly 1,000 artists and actors from 19 professional drama art units, both public and private.

The "judging committee" of the Festival is the Art Council consisting of: People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association - Chairman of the Council; and members: People's Artist Minh Hoa - Former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater; People's Artist, Musician Trong Dai; Professor, Doctor Le Thi Hoai Phuong; Doctor, Director Le Manh Hung - Former Head of the Theater Department (Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema); Playwright Chu Thom; People's Artist Nguyen Dat Tang.

Immediately after the opening ceremony was the opening performance of the Youth Theater with the play "Time Wharf".
The festival runs until June 26, featuring 23 plays at the Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theatre, promising to bring many unique artistic experiences to those who love the country's drama stage.
