On the morning of August 4, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and the VPA Newspaper organized the opening ceremony of a journalism training course for a delegation of officers of the Lao People's Army Newspaper.
Attending the opening ceremony were: Colonel Nguyen Hong Hai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper; Colonel Viengxay Soulivong, Lao Defense Attaché in Vietnam; Lieutenant Colonel Aphai Aphaiyavong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Lao People's Army Newspaper, and representatives of a number of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
Speaking at the opening of the training course, Colonel Nguyen Hong Hai gave an overview of the history, tradition, functions, tasks and development orientation of the People's Army Newspaper in the coming time.

Colonel Nguyen Hong Hai emphasized that after nearly 75 years of establishment and development, the People's Army Newspaper has developed with publications: Daily People's Army Newspaper, Weekend People's Army Newspaper, Monthly Events and Witnesses and Electronic People's Army Newspaper in 5 languages: Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Lao, Khmer and according to plan, in August, the Russian version of the Electronic People's Army Newspaper will be officially launched.
To achieve the above achievements, the People's Army Newspaper has always received the direction and encouragement of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the help of the Central Committees, ministries and branches; agencies and units in the Army and leaders, authorities and people of localities in the country and international friends, including the special encouragement of the leaders of the Party, the State, the armed forces and the people of Laos, especially the colleagues of the Lao People's Army Newspaper.
Colonel Nguyen Hong Hai hopes that, at the end of the training course, what the Lao People's Army Newspaper officers will bring back to the country is not only the experience in journalism but more importantly, the warm, loyal, and affectionate feelings of the brothers on the eastern side of the Truong Son range who always respect their brothers on the western side of the Truong Son range. That feeling has been formed in history, tested in war, consolidated and nurtured in peace , lasting forever, supporting and harmonious like hands and feet, inseparable.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Aphai Aphaiyavong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Lao People's Army Newspaper, said that the Lao Party and State always pay attention to the development of the press. Over the years, the Lao People's Army Newspaper has always focused on comprehensive development, especially the work of building a team of reporters and editors with sufficient qualifications and capacity to meet work requirements and fulfill their political tasks well. The above results are thanks to the great support and contributions of the Vietnam People's Army Newspaper to the Lao People's Army Newspaper.
The Lao People's Army Newspaper and the Vietnam People's Army Newspaper have had close cooperation and made joint efforts in promoting the fine traditions of the Lao and Vietnamese peoples, deserving the trust and praise of the Party, State, Army and people of the two countries.
“This is the second time I have attended a journalism training course organized by the Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper. I feel very excited and look forward to a useful and memorable learning journey. Lao press is striving to innovate to better serve its political tasks as well as the people’s information needs. I hope to learn about modern, multi-platform journalism and effective methods of approaching readers from Vietnam,” said Major Somphone Sisoumang, a reporter for the Lao People’s Army Newspaper.

Lieutenant Colonel Aphai Aphaiyavong emphasized that many generations of officers and soldiers of the Lao People's Army in general, and officers and soldiers of the Lao People's Army Newspaper in particular, have gone to Vietnam to study and after returning home have become excellent leaders, managers, and researchers; at the same time, they are also the inheritors and nurturers of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and two Armies that will forever be green and sustainable.
Lieutenant Colonel Aphai Aphaiyavong, on behalf of the Lao People's Army Newspaper's delegation, affirmed their determination to overcome all difficulties and focus on efforts to fulfill their study and research tasks to achieve the best results.
