Opening of 'Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024'

DNO - On the morning of August 30, the event "Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024" opened at Ariyana International Convention Palace. Attending the event were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong. On the city side, there were Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City Nguyen Van Quang; Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh; Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the event " Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024 " was held for the first time in Da Nang and Central Vietnam, marking a new milestone in the development journey of Da Nang city.

Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2024 was launched yesterday with exciting activities such as: field survey of infrastructure and human resources, exhibition on specific policy mechanisms and technical infrastructure serving the semiconductor industry, bilateral dialogue between the city and potential domestic and foreign partners in the field of semiconductors.

Today, Da Nang city organized 2 conference sessions: Promoting investment in Da Nang semiconductors in the morning and Connecting supply and demand of semiconductor human resources in the afternoon. The opinions at the conference will help the city to perceive, correctly assess the current situation and plan effective solutions to participate deeply in the semiconductor industry value chain, becoming an attractive destination for investors and a center for training semiconductor human resources for domestic and export purposes.

The semiconductor industry is one of the most important and high-value industries and plays a central role in the modern technological revolution. Over the past 30 years, the value chain of the global semiconductor industry has made great strides, forecasting a revenue of 620 billion USD in 2024 and a sharp increase to 1,000 billion USD in 2030.

Da Nang is located in the center of the country and the region, has diplomatic and economic relations with most of the countries that are powers in the semiconductor industry, high-quality human resources with proper training, along with political stability, technical infrastructure and convenient transportation...

Da Nang has received attention from Government leaders and determination from local authorities in creating a legal corridor and preferential mechanisms to support specific investments in the development of the semiconductor industry.

These advantages have facilitated Da Nang to become the country's high-tech center with a focus on semiconductor microchips, as set out in Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW dated May 13, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the 12th Politburo on building and developing Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Since the end of 2023, Da Nang has quickly seized the opportunity to approach investors, promote the investment environment and opportunities as well as deploy human resource training in the semiconductor industry, initially creating a buzz in the domestic and international semiconductor microchip community.

The world's leading semiconductor design companies such as Synopsys and Marvell have established a presence in Da Nang. Nvidia, Qualcom, Intel... have come to survey investment opportunities and are planning to cooperate in training high-quality human resources in the city. Foxlink Group, one of the leading enterprises in Taiwan (China), has invested 135 million USD in the city and is planning to expand in the near future.

In the context of the global semiconductor industry value chain being shaped, participating in this value chain will still have many difficulties and challenges but also open up many opportunities.

Aiming to “take the lead and go fast” in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam to catch the investment wave, Da Nang is looking forward to valuable contributions from domestic and foreign investors, businesses and experts in planning and orienting the development of the semiconductor industry, thereby establishing an open investment environment with appropriate support mechanisms and investment incentives, creating fast and effective investment opportunities for investors in this field.
