Illegal land exploitation in residential area in Linh Truong: 4 related subjects have been identified

Accordingly, on April 21, the Department of Agriculture and Environment sent a document to the People's Committee of Gio Linh district requesting that, under its authority, it direct specialized departments and the People's Committee of Linh Truong commune to organize information inspections and strictly handle violations according to regulations on illegal land exploitation as reported by the press.

Specifically, recently, in the cajuput forest area and home gardens in Ben Tat and Truong Hai villages, Linh Truong commune, Gio Linh district, land exploitation has been taking place day and night, even though these areas have not been licensed by the authorities.

Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee Vo Dac Hoa said that the issue reported by Quang Tri Newspaper exists and the district has promptly received the information to direct units and localities to take action. Recently, on April 22, the District People's Committee issued a document assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Areas and the People's Committee of Linh Truong Commune to verify the above incident and report to the District People's Committee in April 2025.

At the same time, it requires localities in the district to strengthen inspection and supervision of land use and mineral exploitation in the area, and promptly correct cases showing signs of violations.

Particularly, the People's Committee of Linh Truong commune actively coordinated with specialized agencies in the process of inspecting and handling the above case as reported by the press, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people not to participate in illegal land exploitation activities; promptly detect and report to competent authorities when there are signs of violations.

Speaking to reporters from Quang Tri newspaper, the leader of the Department of Police Investigation of Economic Crimes, Corruption, Smuggling and Environmental Crimes of the Provincial Police said that regarding the case of illegal land exploitation in a residential area in Linh Truong commune reported by the newspaper, the unit is urgently investigating and clarifying the matter.

Initially, 4 subjects related to the incident were identified, and at the same time, the specialized agencies coordinated to measure and calculate the volume of land that had been illegally exploited in the past. The unit will continue to clarify the violations of these land exploiters and the responsibility of the person whose name is on the land use right for the above-mentioned land exploitation to strictly handle them according to regulations.

Regarding this content, previously, Quang Tri Newspaper published an article "Illegal land exploitation in residential areas in Linh Truong commune", reflecting that for a long time, the situation of "land theft" has been occurring in the cajuput forest area in residential areas in Ben Tat and Truong Hai villages, Linh Truong commune, located next to the East branch of Ho Chi Minh Highway.

Although these land exploitation locations have not been licensed by the authorities and the above subjects have been administratively sanctioned by the local authorities, they still deliberately illegally re-exploit the land.
