Brunei has long been present on the map of Southeast Asia as a small but wealthy country, notable for its political stability, high standard of living and economy based on abundant oil and gas resources.

With one of the highest GDP per capita in the region, Brunei has the appearance of a welfare kingdom, a small population, almost no public debt, and especially a peaceful and stable social life.

With more than 16 years of living and working in Brunei, author Tran Giang San is affectionately called “San Brunei” by his friends in the tourism industry. This more or less shows the affection he has for Brunei, which he considers his second home.

The publication The Kingdom of Brunei - Land, Culture and People is the result of Tran Giang San's love and affection for Brunei, and at the same time, brings readers interesting and attractive information with the hope of inspiring them to set out.

Written with the author's personal experience and deep feelings, Brunei - Land, Culture and People does not follow a dry academic writing style. The work has a strong travelogue quality, taking readers on a journey to discover Brunei in a close and authentic way.

From the architectural beauty of mosques to the rusticity of rural markets, from pristine nature to cultural life full of identity, all come to life through the author's affectionate gaze and subtle observations.

The book is an invitation to explore Brunei at a slow, deep and respectful pace, true to the spirit of this country. The everyday stories and places associated with vivid memories have contributed to creating a Brunei that is not only luxurious but also very lovely, not strange but close.

Sharing at the program, Tran Giang San said that 6 years ago, when he had been living in Brunei for 10 years, he had the idea of writing a book about this country. When the manuscript was just completed, the Covid-19 outbreak forced him to put it on hold. Only recently did he take the time to review and supplement the manuscript before sending it to the publisher.

“I was captivated by the simple and intimate beauty of Brunei, from its people to its culture. A peaceful country like its name - Negara Brunei Darusalam. In addition, the book market about Brunei is quite rare, while Brunei tourism has gradually developed and gained much attention on the tourism map recently. I hope this book will provide more information for the guide industry based on what I have proven, and will be a learning material for students or researchers on Southeast Asian culture,” author Tran Giang San expressed.
