(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of September 8, comrade Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the city on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3.

According to the report of the City Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, super typhoon No. 3 killed 2 people (in Tien Lang and Thuy Nguyen districts); 12 people were injured at home due to broken glass and roofs, and received first aid at the District/County Medical Center. Of which, An Duong district had 4 people, Ngo Quyen district had 7 people, Thuy Nguyen district had 1 person.
Regarding the system of dikes, irrigation works, and natural disaster prevention in the city, safety is guaranteed, no incidents have occurred. Vehicles anchored at storm shelters are safe.
However, many roads and streets had trees, lights, traffic lights, signs, communication lines broken, flooded, causing serious congestion; traffic activities were suspended and interrupted. Many areas had power cut off to ensure safety or due to power line problems. Many houses, agency headquarters, business establishments, warehouses, factories, livestock farms were damaged, roofs were blown off, power poles were broken. Many areas of rice, vegetables, fruit trees, ornamental plants were broken and damaged. About 5,000 hectares of rice were in bloom and damaged, vegetables: 1,750 hectares of vegetables were severely affected, 1,000 hectares of fruit trees were severely affected, 400 hectares of flowers and ornamental plants were affected. Vehicles were anchored in storm shelters to ensure safety. The damage was very large and cannot be accurately and specifically assessed and counted.

After listening to the reports and opinions of the delegates, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau emphasized: Storm No. 3 has passed through, causing great damage in the city; he acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of agencies, units and localities in proactively and drastically implementing storm prevention measures; doing a good job of forecasting, mobilizing the consensus and support of all classes of people; being resolute in directing and operating; close and effective coordination between functional forces. Timely preparation of conditions, means and materials for storm prevention has contributed to minimizing the damage caused by the storm.
To quickly overcome the incident caused by the super typhoon, the City Party Secretary assigned the City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense to preside over the review and accurate synthesis of natural disaster damage; the City's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense is the sole focal point for reporting and communicating information on the work of overcoming the consequences of typhoon No. 3. The City People's Committee directed in general, overcoming incidents of telecommunications, traffic, electricity, water, environmental sanitation... to ensure people's daily life; in which, focusing on directing the overcoming of telecommunications incidents in the shortest time; electricity must ensure normal production activities of enterprises, especially industrial parks and clusters, must be completed by today at the latest; immediately overcome incidents of green trees, cut and prune, collect broken branches, replant tree stumps to ensure requirements; Today must ensure traffic connecting districts, by September 9, 2024 must ensure smooth traffic throughout the city.
