With the determination to overcome the sun and rain, and to devote all efforts to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles, the Nghe An Oncology Hospital Project Phase 2 with a total investment of more than 1,259 billion VND and a scale of over 1,000 beds meeting international standards has been basically completed and is 30 months ahead of schedule.

This will be the largest and most modern oncology hospital in the North Central region, meeting the needs of high-quality medical examination and treatment.

The hospital was honored to be selected as one of the 7 main bridges nationwide to inaugurate on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Maximum mobilization of human resources and equipment

Construction started in January 2023 and was expected to be put into operation in 2027, but with close direction from the province, urgent and synchronous working spirit between units, the Nghe An Oncology Hospital project "reached the finish line" 2.5 years early.

These days, at the construction site, officers and workers are rushing to carry out the final stages to inaugurate the project on the country's important day.

Mr. Ha Manh Cuong, Site Commander, said that in order for the project to be put into operation soon, the unit has increased machinery and equipment more than the construction plan. Specifically, the unit increased from 3 machines to 5 pile drivers, increased from 3 tower cranes to 5 tower cranes.

At peak times at the construction site, the unit mobilized nearly 850 officers and workers to work. Therefore, the rough construction was completed in 6 months.

In the finishing stage, the parties coordinate smoothly during the construction process. The investor, the supervisor and the contractor regularly hold meetings 1-2 times/week to promptly resolve difficulties and problems, and warn of work at risk of being behind schedule so that timely solutions can be found.

At the Department of Nuclear Medicine, the working atmosphere is very urgent. Engineers and doctors are completing the final work for assembling modern medical equipment and supplies. Here, engineer Dao Van Phuong of GE Vietnam and his colleagues are busy assembling the PET/CT machine (the most modern cancer screening machine in Vietnam).

Engineer Dao Van Phuong said that these days, the team works in 3 shifts with the utmost urgency and responsibility to promptly assemble all types of machinery, medical equipment and supplies for the hospital.

To date, the basic work has been completed. It is expected to be completed and handed over by the end of the week so that the hospital is ready to receive patients right after the inauguration ceremony.

Completing the closed cancer treatment cycle right at the local level

Nghe An Oncology Hospital Phase 2 is a Group A project, part of the province's key investment program. The project is part of the strategy to develop Vinh city into a high-tech medical center of the North Central region, in the spirit of Resolution 39-NQ/TW and Resolution 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo .

The hospital is designed to be modern, friendly, and meets international standards. The patient rooms are spacious and comfortable; the system of departments and functional rooms is invested synchronously.

The medical equipment is all state-of-the-art technology such as: Synergy Platform radiotherapy system, PET/CT machine, SPECT/CT machine, molecular biology testing system, interventional robot, 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, 128-slice CT scanner...

The hospital will be the final line of oncology in the North Central region according to the classification of the Ministry of Health. Currently, the hospital deploys 694/814 advanced, specialized techniques - including many techniques previously only performed at the Central level such as personalized chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, accelerated radiotherapy, etc.

In the coming time, the hospital will operate a Cyclotron system to produce radioactive isotopes, combined with PET/CT to detect early and effectively treat cancer.

Mr. Pham Vinh Hung, Deputy Director of Nghe An Oncology Hospital, said that putting the new facility into operation helps the hospital complete a closed cancer treatment process including early diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

This not only improves the quality of treatment but also shortens the time, reduces costs and travel effort for patients, especially for patients in remote areas and significantly reduces treatment costs for patients, contributing to reducing the load on central hospitals.

Not only investing in infrastructure and equipment, the hospital focuses on developing high-quality human resources.

Currently, the unit has nearly 1,100 officers and employees, including 1 Associate Professor, PhD, 3 PhDs, 15 level II specialist doctors, 3 level II pharmacists and many skilled doctors, nurses and technicians.

Every year, the hospital sends a team of doctors and nurses to participate in specialized training courses at home and abroad to update new techniques and optimally operate modern equipment.

The hospital is a pioneer in implementing electronic medical records, completely eliminating paper medical records. Medical images are stored and transmitted via a digital system, instead of printing films, contributing to modernizing management and improving service quality.

With modern infrastructure, advanced equipment, high-quality human resources and advanced management technology, Nghe An Oncology Hospital Phase 2 promises to become a bright spot in the country's healthcare sector.

This is also great news for people in the province and the North Central region when they have access to high-quality medical services.

The project not only brings high-quality treatment opportunities to thousands of cancer patients each year but also affirms Nghe An's position as a high-quality medical center in the region./.
