Attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan; Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee Le Van Minh; Secretary of the Hoi An Ward Party Committee Nguyen Duc Binh, along with representatives of the City Military Command and relatives of martyrs of the battalion.
Reviewing the unit's tradition, Colonel Thai Thanh Hung, Head of the Tradition Liaison Committee of the heroic Battalion 2 (V25), said: Battalion 2, codenamed V25, was established on August 5, 1965, in Phu Thuan village (Dai Thang commune, old Dai Loc district). The unit consisted of 4 companies with about 400 gunmen, most of whom were children of Quang Nam who grew up during the Dong Khoi movement.
In the formation of Quang Da Provincial Military Command, V25 was organized in the direction of "special forces", trained quite elite to fight "blooming in the enemy's heart".
V25 organized many major battles with resounding victories. The first battle took place on October 29, 1965, V25 raided and completely destroyed Nui Lo post in Dai Quang commune, old Dai Loc district (now Ha Nha commune, Da Nang city).
The most resounding victory of V25 was the anti-sweep battle on Dien Hoa land, old Dien Ban town (now Dien Ban Bac ward). Here, the unit shot down 4 tanks, captured 8 enemies. Officers and soldiers of V25 continuously maneuvered to fight the enemy, organized anti-sweep battles, attacked points, contributing with the army and people of Quang to defeat the "Search and destroy" strategy in the first dry season of 1966 of the US - puppet.
In the raid on the stronghold of village 7, Cam Thanh commune (now Hoi An Dong ward), the unit destroyed 2 Bao An platoons, captured 30 guns of various types. Participating in the battle to liberate Hoi An prison on the night of July 14, 1967, it freed nearly 1,300 cadres, soldiers, and people imprisoned by the enemy...
The V25 Liaison Committee has mobilized the construction of 4 war monuments and memorials in the provinces of Quang Nam (old) and Da Nang. Among them is the war monument commemorating martyrs in Hoi An ward.
“The new project was built with financial support from the old Quang Nam province and Da Nang city and from the mobilization and contributions of veterans. The war memorial was rebuilt from a monolithic stone block 3m high, 2.5m wide, and weighing 6 tons. The project was carried out by the Non Nuoc Vuong Trieu stone art establishment, a work of sculptor Tran Van Minh. The project was completed on July 27, 2025, located in Hoi An ward, showing respect and gratitude to the heroes and martyrs who have forever remained on the battlefield,” Colonel Thai Thanh Hung shared.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan expressed his gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic V25 officers and soldiers of Quang Da Front 44.
The resounding feats of arms and heroic sacrifices of V25 officers and soldiers and fire-sharing units contributed to great victories in the history of national struggle and liberation, contributing to the cause of bringing the country to total victory.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that in the coming time, the heroic V25 veterans and Front 44 of Quang Da will continue to promote the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, participate in giving advice for the development of the new city; always set an example, encourage children and grandchildren in their families and clans to continue the tradition, continue to contribute to building and developing their homeland and country.
