With confidence, they set off . Throughout the training process, after Vietnam secured its official spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics, leaders from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Education and Sports worked directly with each coaching staff at the training sites to monitor their professional preparation. The athletes' spirit was evident. They all affirmed their determination to prepare as best as possible for the world's most important sporting event. Vietnam now has 16 athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics. “All the athletes participating in this Olympic Games are outstanding and highly determined. We hope each of them achieves the best possible results to conquer the competition. Above all, they strive to surpass their own limits,” representatives from the High-Performance Sports Divisions 1 and 2 (Department of Physical Education and Sports) stated. According to the schedule, the send-off ceremony for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation is the crucial moment when everyone is ready to go to France. The Vietnamese sports delegation is expected to travel to France on July 23rd to begin their participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics . The aspiration to conquer: Many comparisons have been made between Vietnamese sports and other Southeast Asian countries regarding the number of athletes who have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports has analyzed that we are focusing intensely on the official competition, and the athletes are in the preparation phase to reach peak performance when the Olympics begin. The goal of Vietnamese sports is to strive for medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Four years ago, we participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (Japan) with 18 athletes and set a goal of winning medals. However, we did not achieve any medals in Japan. This time, the aspiration to conquer the Olympics is not unfulfilled for Vietnamese sports. Nevertheless, opportunities depend on our ability to predict, not on a 100% guarantee of success. In a professional analysis presented to the press in June 2024, representatives from the Department of Physical Education and Sports stated that several teams are expected to achieve good results, such as shooting, archery, boxing, and weightlifting. In particular, shooters Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen are expected to achieve near-perfect results to reach the finals of their respective events. The aspiration to win Olympic medals is the goal of all 16 Vietnamese athletes. However, we shouldn't be overly optimistic because, based on the actual capabilities and professional level of Vietnamese athletes, the management understands which sports and events offer the best chance of winning. To focus all efforts on professional preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Vietnam has sent many athletes from the swimming, cycling, boxing, weightlifting, and shooting teams for training abroad. Several teams, including archery, badminton, rowing, canoeing, and judo, are training in Vietnam to maintain their peak performance. In the 2024 Paris Olympics squad, Vietnam only has athletes who have previously participated in the Olympics: Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery). Among the coaches for the 2024 Paris Olympics, only expert Park Chung-gun (shooting) remains, a member of the team that won Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics (Brazil). Therefore, it is understood that the Vietnamese Olympic team this time in France will have a large number of new players experiencing the Olympic arena for the first time. “The Olympics are a place where competition is fierce. All participating athletes are the best in their respective events, and we understand how intense the competition is through the Olympic qualifying rounds. But in the actual Olympics, the competition is even more intense. Every athlete from any country who wins an Olympic medal makes history for that nation's sports,” – athlete Do Thi Anh Nguyet once shared her feelings about preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
