A hidden pristine painting
Located deep in the buffer zone of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Kho Muong village appears as an isolated valley, home to 65 Thai households with more than 300 people. From above, Kho Muong looks like a rustic picture with stilt houses nestled on the mountainside, surrounded by gently sloping terraced fields and primeval forests.

The wild beauty, not yet affected much by mass tourism , has turned this place into an attractive destination for those who love to explore and return to nature.
Journey to conquer the valley
The road leading to the village is only about 1km long but is a real challenge with steep, winding and bumpy slopes following the mountainside. In the early mornings, the fog covers the area, making the scene even more magical. Due to the difficult terrain, visitors often have to walk or use a special local service: a team of Thai motorbike taxis.

Motorbike taxi team 'repays' nature
Initially, passenger transport was spontaneous. However, realizing the potential and the need for organization, in June 2022, the model of "Self-managed tourist motorbike taxi for security and order" was established under the coordination of local authorities, with 90 people voluntarily participating.
Each trip to take passengers in and out of the village costs 100,000 VND. What makes the story of the Kho Muong motorbike taxi team special is the way they show their gratitude to their homeland. Mr. Ngan Van Cuong, a member of the team, shared: “Nature gives us beauty for tourists to come to. Having more income is also thanks to the mountains and forests, so for each trip, we will give back 10,000 VND to the village.”
This money is contributed to a common fund to repair roads, buy more trash cans, plant trees and serve community building activities. This is a sustainable community tourism model, where each tourist trip directly contributes to the preservation and development of the village.

The storytellers of the village
Not only drivers, the members of the motorbike taxi team are also the friendliest and most knowledgeable “tour guides” of Kho Muong. They are willing to share stories about the history, culture and lifestyle of the Thai people, helping visitors gain a deeper insight into this land.
Mr. Thanh Tung, a tourist, said: “Coming to Kho Muong, I not only get to admire the beautiful scenery but also the friendly people. I was also quite surprised by the motorbike taxi team transporting tourists, they are very professional and friendly.”
Currently, the road to Kho Muong is still difficult, and people always hope that it will be invested in and renovated to welcome more tourists. However, this isolation also contributes to keeping Kho Muong a wild beauty, a unique charm that not every place has.
