Fostering self-reliance for sustainable poverty reduction.

Over the past period, along with fostering the spirit and will of self-reliance among the people, Krông Nô commune has implemented many programs to create models and livelihoods to help people reduce poverty sustainably, especially ethnic minorities.

From poverty reduction funds, from 2023 to the present, Krông Nô commune has supported people with 40 breeding cows worth 990 million VND; donated nearly 1,400 hybrid fighting chickens and ducks, and provided initial feed support worth nearly 200 million VND; and handed over 49 houses from various support sources to poor and near-poor households. In addition, policies for the poor and ethnic minorities such as free medical examinations and treatment, support for production land, electricity subsidies, and training courses on farming and livestock raising... not only reduce the financial burden but also help people access basic social services and improve their quality of life.

Previously, despite being very hardworking, Mr. Nong Van Du's family (in Plom village) often struggled financially because they only grew short-term crops, their coffee plantation was old and low-yielding, and they lacked capital . In 2018, he boldly borrowed 30 million VND from the poverty alleviation fund to buy fertilizer and new seeds to renovate his plantation; he also invested in livestock pens and brewed rượu (rice wine) to use by-products for raising pigs and chickens. Thanks to proper economic development, diligent application of farming and livestock techniques, and most importantly, self-reliance, his family's economic situation improved significantly. In just three years, Mr. Du's family escaped poverty.

Similarly, the family of Mr. Hoang Van Duan (of the Tay ethnic group) moved from Cao Bang province to live in Buon Plom village in 2006. In the early days, Mr. Duan's family faced many difficulties due to a lack of capital for production. In 2016, his family borrowed 50 million VND from the poverty alleviation fund to plant coffee, fruit trees, and raise chickens and ducks. Now, with 2 hectares of coffee and durian, his family earns hundreds of millions of VND annually.

As for the couple H'Nhi Cil and Y Sỹ Đắk Căt (Phi Dih Ja A village), at the end of 2023 they received support in the form of a breeding cow to develop their economy. H'Nhi excitedly said: “With the support of the breeding cow, plus over 5 acres of coffee and 1 acre of rice, this year our family expects to earn nearly 100 million VND.”
