Launching the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival

Following the success of the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival, the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival with the theme Asian Bridge was directed by the Da Nang People's Committee, chaired by the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports and other departments of Da Nang city, and Vietnamese and international organizations.

The second Da Nang Asian Film Festival will take place from July 2 to July 6, 2024 in Da Nang city.

According to the Organizing Committee, the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival will still maintain the program framework of a professional film festival with the opening and closing ceremonies - award ceremonies broadcast live on Vietnam Television VTV, relayed by Da Nang Television and other television stations nationwide; Asian and Vietnamese film programs competing with valuable prizes.

In addition, there is the Vietnam Cinema Program today introducing selected and newly produced Vietnamese films; Da Nang's selected film program; A focus program on a country's cinema; A program introducing films by famous international guests; International seminars and talks; Artist exchanges with audiences; "Talent incubation" workshop; Visiting historical sites, scenic spots, promoting filming locations...

Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of VFDA, said that for the first time in Vietnam, the Da Nang Asian Film Festival will present the Cinema Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker who has made many contributions to cinema. The Cinema Achievement Award will be maintained annually.

The Organizing Committee opens registration for all filmmakers and film studios to submit films to the Film Festival starting from December 19.

Specifically, the Asian Film category includes feature films (over 70 minutes) from the Asia- Pacific region. Films produced from February 2023 to March 2024.

The Vietnamese Film category includes Vietnamese feature films produced from February 2023 to April 2024. The Vietnamese Cinema Today category includes Vietnamese feature films (over 70 minutes) produced from January 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

The Organizing Committee will establish a Selection Council to decide on films for the categories of Competition Films and "Today's Vietnamese Cinema".

The second Da Nang Asian Film Festival has 3 Jury Boards: Asian Film Jury, Vietnamese Film Jury and NETPAC Jury. Each Jury Board consists of experts, stars, and famous filmmakers from Vietnam and internationally.

The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) continues to be one of the foreign partners participating in organizing the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

In 2023, the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival will take place, with the participation of nearly 800 delegates and guests, famous Asian and international film experts and stars, along with leading Vietnamese artists and film experts, representatives of film crews, domestic and foreign film activists...
