Two former coaches Dang Dao and Nguyen Ty were prosecuted and temporarily detained by Khanh Hoa Provincial Police to investigate the crime of appropriating property worth more than 3.2 billion VND.

On May 30, Thanh Nien 's source said that the Economic Police Department, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain two former coaches Dang Dao (52 years old) and Nguyen Ty (55 years old, both residing in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province) to investigate the crime of abusing power and authority to appropriate property.

Before being prosecuted, the defendants Dang Dao and Nguyen Ty were U.19 and U.17 football coaches of the Khanh Hoa Province Sports Technical Training Center, under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa Province.

Previously, on February 22, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute a criminal case of abuse of power and position to appropriate property that occurred at this center.

The investigation determined that, although the defendants Dao and Ty had no functions or duties related to financial, accounting, and revenue and expenditure activities of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technical Training Center, they abused their professional titles as football coaches, directly receiving wages and food allowances according to the State's regime for the athletes they coached.

How did 2 former coaches of Khanh Hoa youth team embezzle money from players?

The two defendants then managed the entire amount themselves, decided to pay a portion to the athletes, and appropriated the remaining amount. In addition, the police also determined that the two defendants falsified training times to make illegal profits.

According to the Investigation Agency, from 2021 to 2024, Dang Dao and Nguyen Ty colluded to appropriate a total of more than 3.2 billion VND. Of which, they caused a loss to the state budget of more than 500 million VND and a loss to athletes of more than 2.7 billion VND.
