Prosecution and temporary detention of former judge for drug possession

On January 29th, the Investigation Police Department of Pleiku City ( Gia Lai province) issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung (39 years old, residing in Phu Dong ward, Pleiku City) for the crime of "illegally possessing narcotics".

Earlier, on the evening of January 11th, the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Gia Lai Provincial Police caught Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung red-handed possessing over 1 gram of white crystalline substance at a hotel in Tra Da commune, Pleiku city. Mr. Dung confessed that it was drugs.

The People's Court of Chư Prông District, where Nguyễn Thành Dũng previously worked as a judge.

Immediately afterwards, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department handed over the case file and the suspect Nguyen Thanh Dung to the Pleiku City Police for further investigation within their jurisdiction regarding the act of "illegally possessing narcotics".

It is known that Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung was formerly a judge at the People's Court of Chu Prong District (Gia Lai Province). However, on January 8th, Mr. Dung submitted a resignation letter. On January 9th, the People's Court of Gia Lai Province issued a decision approving Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung's resignation.
